the President's relationship with the AD.
"Universities have trouble when the president is not very close on a constant basis with the athletic director. You have to put that in context. Because it's true for me and other vice presidents, as well, so the AD will sit on my cabinet and direct report, 100 percent accountable to me."

"But the way I look at it you get the right person, then truly they're my colleague, collaborator. They will be experts. I have seen so many fabulous president-AD relationships in my time in higher education. I have very good role models in terms of the relationship. So I know how they should look."

Good Stuff

"the pool will be composed primarily of sitting athletic directors who would like to move for whatever reason at Division I programs, or people who are second in command at the highest profile D-1 programs"

My guess is we take a #2 from an ACC school.

I like everything she says about the search and the type of person she's looking for. Herbst is one smart cookie. UConn is lucky to have her.
