Reflecting on your own life for a moment; ever try to climb a corporate ladder, but get passed over? Do you play softball in some beer league? Hack at golf or bowl? Play poker and feel the pain of a losing streak? Maybe you always come up short. How hungry are you to succeed as a result? Meet South Florida. Some of those players haven't even meet their own University President, let alone a White House visit.

Guys have Heart, JC recruits players that want to win at the Highest level. Sometimes they become Stars and some are just role players. The hardest thing in sports is to make a team that has felt the excitement of a Championship Parade, rings, interviews, dinners, trophys, magazine covers, posters. etc. feel Hungry. Yes, talent can cover a number of problems; but how do you think UConn won in 99? Starving for a title.

On a side note, one game I circled on my schedule in September was our rematch with Pitt. I remember Gibbs bombing from 3. Getting down early, making a Furious comeback highlighted by one of the most Memorable shots in UConn's history. Down goes McGee! Message board fodder and photos. Who will be the Hungry team Saturday?

Pitt, unfortunately, is in the same category as North Carolina and Providence - teams that have our number. Gibbs will hit for 30. Why not? He's an awesome 3 pt shooter and we're a crappy 3 pt defensive team. He's drooling out there somewhere, right now.

What's the over/under on Pitt banking a 3 on us Saturday?
Clearly we are DOOOOMED!

(Note: I will be at this game screaming my foolish head off.)

Imagine how much heart and hunger this team would have if Drummond could consistently his a ten to fifteen foot jump shot? Everything would be so different in Husky land if they had some kind of down low presence.
