Not surprised. At 6-9 and already 265, he doesn't fit the long athletic bigs that UConn usually gets. From what I've read, he has a lot of skill and is a very good rebounder. He would be a nice addition, but I don't think it would be hard for other programs on his list to negatively recruit against us, particularly from a style of play viewpoint.
He seems the only true 5 on the radar. I figure they're either recruiting some versitle 4s (4/5 combo types) to fill this need or shop for a 5 next spring. He plays for the same Prep that XRM plays for, Huntington Prep, so maybe they'll keep an iron in the fire with him if the staff pays their prep a visit before they commit.
One recruit on the radar who seems to fit the UConn 4/5 Combo mold is Akoy Agau out of Nebraska. He's lsited 6-9, 240 and raw. I think he's one that expressed strong interest in UConn. He sounds like a good fit to play the 4 and 5 if he's anywhere close to 6-9 and 240. If he's more 6-7 and 220, then he sounds too similar to Facy, who's 6-9, 195. Recruits like Agau ofaten turn out to be either the next Boone or the next Michael Bradley. You just don't know how much raw bigs will develop over their senior year in HS and throughout their years in college. JC has had a lot of hits with the raw bigs such as Sellers, Travis, Jake, Emeka, Boone, Armstrong, etc., but has had his share of misses in Justin Brown, Dove, Bradley and some middle of the road moderate contributors, Wane & Okwandu.
