Heads-up: tonight CPTVSports...a future D1 kid???

At 7 tonight CPTVSports is airing Enfield High at Canton. Enfield is normally terrible but last they were 20-6
or something like that. Mary Baskerville was a frosh on that team....6'3" or so. She has an older sister on the team as well. This year they are undefeated so far. I have seen a few boxscores and her numbers are solid but not spectactular.. I haven't seen her play but I wonder if she will develop enough to play in college on someone else's dime

I would think CPTV would be hip enough to scan the crowd for interesting fans....like a UConn staff member...or maybe more realistically Jen?

Anyway....if you are into recruiting you might check it out. I will provide wisdom [or the lack of same] tomorrow on Mary's game at this point.

Enfield now 10-0...Canton 8-3.

The announcers had done a good job of prepping for the game and the color guy was very good.
They said that Mary had received a lot of letters from D1 schools and mentioned that one of them came from Geno.
The morning paper said that Marisa was at the game....no mention of that on the broadcast...bad job.

Mary had 14/10 with 5 steals and 8 blocks. Had an unimpressive first half...2 points....2 of 6 from the foul line.
Was more active in the second half. 4 for 4 from the line....made 3 uncontested lay-ups and one legit post-move basket.

She played about 3 quarters due to foul trouble....most of those reach-ins 20 feet from the basket.
She is unselfish....seems to have a good basketball IQ...made some nice passes and even those that led to turnovers, she was
sending it to the right place. Not the most aggressive soul on offense that I have ever seen....reasonably athletic for her size and age...
announcer said she is 6'4". Hmmm?

Was Marisa there for a courtesy visit to a local? I would think if she or another staff member comes to a game later this year
that would indicate some UConn interest.

Enfield is a Class S school now....they merge with Fermi next year. I would think that might move them to Class
M or L or LL. Higher level of competition would help Mary. Enfield started 4 sophs and one junior....future looks good.
I wonder if Mary plays AAU ball in the spring? Both Enfield and Canton played hard....lots of scrappiness....lots of turnovers....lots of bodies flying every whichway.

My guess is that Mary will be a scholarship player for Somewhere University down the road. I can easily see her playing with UHart if she improves her
overall game. UConn? We'll see.

Hopefully Jen makes it to a game... if she hasnt already. I'll watch the game in a few after watching Undercover Boss. Im 2 games behind with the UConn women (3 after tonight's)
