Buyouts are a massive injustice. Dirty as it gets.

South Carolina boosters couldn't get him out fast enough. I believe the Long family of Long's Drugs put in money for the buyout. I have no idea why I bothered to read South Carolina's board.

How many years was he at SC? I don’t think he’s a bad coach.

SC gotta understand that it is SC.

5 years - His HC record below

SC has been bad this year...and getting worse. I am sure donors are paying for the buyout...but it feels like there are better ways to spend $13mm in that state.

The head coaching carrousel for 2020 gets an early start with Will Muschamp dumped at SC.

For quick reference his career record at FL and SC was 56-51

Would like to see Rhett Lashlee considered for the HC job

Jim Harbaugh seems to look like a Harry Potter wannabe, anyway.

Will Muschamp kind of sucks as a HC. He’ll probably get another shot in the future after a coordinator gig or G5 Job, however those boosters should probably start saving for the buyout day one.

My guess would be one of Tony Elliott, Billy Napier, or Shane Beamer. Rhett should consider a jump to a G5 HC Job. Paid off big time for guys like Rhule, Frost, Norvell, Herman, and soon to be Fickell.

I think there could be a very surprising take on the season when its over. The P5 will secretly lust for its old non conf schedules to quickly resume. Two or three wins non conf wins would make a lot of coaches happier right now. And non conf games just gives these programs more time to improve their programs as well.

They started the Civil War on April 12, 1861. Cost benefit analysis is not their strong point in South Carolina.

People are moving into South Carolina in droves because the economic climate is so much better than in the Northeast. Home sales and prices are booming and it's not (like Connecticut) just because it borders New York whose residents are bailing out of the insanity there.

Here's one reason why. The county I live in periodically (maybe every 5-10 years) has a referendum on the ballot for a 1% sales tax increase for capital projects like road or bridge construction. The referendums state a specific amount of money to be raised during a set period (4 years, for example) during which the projects are to be completed. If the projects cost less than the budgeted amount and/or are completed earlier than the projected time for completion the tax ends. Surprise, surprise, we saw it actually happen five years ago when the tax ended early and people trust the system so much another referendum was approved a year ago for additional projects.

That's what I've argued every time someone claims the P5 are going to pull away to set up their own administering body. It would be incredibly stupid. Without fattening up on the G5, roughly 1/2 of the teams will have to finish .500 or below. More coaches will be fired and a few mediocre seasons will take the shine off of even the most historic program. After a few seasons like this one will Michigan still be able to sell 100,000 seats in the Big House? College students are already less sports focused than they were when I was in school. Even Alabama has had to use incentives to get students to attend and stay at football games. Destroying the powerhouse image of all but the top 4 or 5 programs will cost a lot of schools major $$$.

100% agree. And this season is providing an actual sample for alumni, coaches and ADs to witness. Although a non conf schedule is only 3 or 4 games, psychologically it makes a difference. Penn St would probably be 3-5 at this point. They are having a shocking season, but they aren't putrid, they still could beat most non P5 programs.

Plus, and this can't be measured, maybe a program like Penn St or say Michigan would have been able to better use their non conf schedule to figure out their QB situations and other player development/scheme development.

Getting fat on non conf schedules is meaningful to the P5 and its paying fanbases.
