1st game PC vs UMass-Lowell
Good game so far..a bit sloppy during parts of each period. C Freshman Erik Foley is having a pretty good game. UMass-Lowell's PP looks out of sorts getting the puck into the zone. In the 3rd period with just under 14 minutes left and it's 1-1.

2nd Game BC vs Northeastern at 8 pm

Games are on NESN if interested.

Kevin Boyle just made his 54th save on 55 shots for Mass-Lowell....make that 55 saves. Both teams are still skating hard...manufacturing good scoring chances.

This has been some GREAT hockey this OT period so far!!! I'll tell you this...both teams are still flying around the ice...UMass-Lowell may have just ended it here..goal being reviewed. Goal should be good..no kicking motion made....

Turned off BC/Northeastern tied at 2 after Colin White's pp goal in the 2nd after missing the goal because I had fallen asleep. Northeastern goes on to win 5-4. Since coming out of the Semester break in january Northeastern has been one of if not the hottest teams in the country. Living up to their pre-season predictions of being a player for the top of HE. If they can beat Umass-Lowell in the finals there will most likely be 6 HE teams that make the tournament.

They need to rewrite and clarify the kicking motion rule. White didn't "kick" it, but he turned his skate and moved it forward along the ice, thus "pushing" the puck in with his skate. A literal interpretation of the rule would open the door to call that not a kick. I don't think they should have overturned the call on the ice - whichever way it was called. A friend of mine who is a former USA Hockey ref actually texted me and said he wouldn't be surprised if the officials' own fatigue from the game contributed to them just calling it a goal and sticking on the broad definition of "distinct kicking motion."

NESN had some great footage of the replay booth official going over it looking for kicking motion. I've seen the same reversal in NHL games.

Puck goes on off the defenseman's glove for a Northeastern PP goal...Stevens just missed puck with a high stick which would have nullified the goal...
2-1 Northeastern

Aston-Reese buries a backhand on the pp to put Northeastern up 3-2 with 8:50 left in the game.

Final: 3-2 Northeastern
They have had some run since january...actually living up to/playing up to their pre-season hype. This should give HE 6 teams in the tournament:
Northeastern, UMass-Lowell, BC, PC, BU and ND

8 out of the 16 teams in the national tournament will be from CT, MA, and RI..

Yale, Quinnipiac (#1 overall seed), BC, BU, Northeastern, Providence, Harvard, Lowell

And 2 from NY. RIT somehow upset Robert Morris for the AHA tourney title. MA having 5 is crazy.

ECAC would have 4 teams, including Cornell. Yale needed Minnesota to lose to get in.

Cornell is eliminated. Minnesota-Duluth will beat them out for final at large spot.
