Boston Globe reported that former AD Jeff Hathaway was hired by the Big East. Hathaway will work in basketball operations. This move perserves his position as the chair of the NCAA selection committee.

Makes me feel bad for Shawn Murphy. I assume he'll have to report to that jackass

LOL - This board will explode in about 5 mins.

Can this league suck any worse?

If true, this is simultaneously both incredibly fitting and incredibly laughable.

Don't laugh yet. Wait 'till Flipper gets fired and then hired by BE for football operations

Does that take him out of the running as DeFillippo's replacement as AD of BC? If so, this is a bad developement.;)

He will retain his chairmanship of the NCAA BB tour. which is excellent for the BE. great move by the conference.

But is it great news for UConn? Do you think Hathaway is going to do UConn, Calhoun, or Herbst any favors?

I can see it now

undefeated and number 1 ranked UConn is a 5 seed in 1 seed AZ's bracket, and has to play AZ in Phoenix in the S16

after playing 4 seed Duke in Greensboro in the 2nd round

Right? HAHAHA.

Oh oh now we probably will be asked to leave the Big East.

I smell a conspiracy.

His daughter is a UConn student fwiw. He & Coach Jim may have had their differences, but I'm happy that he gets the opportunity to be NCAA tournament chair.

The happenings of the past 6 months (or whatever it was) must have sucked for her. That's tough.

I wish him well

When the time comes for seeding, I believe representatives of schools and/or conferences are not allowed in the room while seeding for their team(s) is taking place. I'm not 100% confident on that rule for conference reps.

Do people actually think that JH would intentionally stiff UConn? How dumb can you get?

I don't think he would intentionally stiff UConn.

I do think it's fair to ask if tomorrow he would have the same passion to fight on behalf of UConn as he would have 12 months ago.

I don't think it will matter though, because while he is a big east representative, I think the committees are governed in a manner where members don't have any direct influence over their schools or conferences.

Yes I think he would do anything in his powers to hurt UConn. He is DeFillipo without the big mouth and pompous attitude. He holds grudges and pay back is a component of his actions.

He is stealth to DeFillopo's bull in a china shop.

Will he wear his uniform?

Eh, we've done pretty well out of the West.
