Is it dearth of penetration leading to low FT opportunities, lack of on-ball defense beyond a hobbled Diarra, freshman influence beyond Liam, playing at a fast pace?
All reasonable holes needing fresh soil.
Inability to pass the ball inbounds was tops for me, infuriation-wise. Giving away late possessions due to self-inflicted wounds is unacceptable.

The reason was simply lack of quickness/agility to get open. When you have five of Alex, Aidan, Liam, Samson/Tarris, Solo, Jaylin and a hobbled Hassan out there that's what you get.
Ross was our only quick-twitch player besides the knee-worn Diarra and Ross had too many misgivings to be out there at crunch time. Hopefully he'll start to get it because he has the agility to perform which we lack on the wing.

We'll see what freshmen can bring but Furphy's calling card is not agility. Nor is it Adams's or Reibe's. Mullins tape - my eye-test shows he has 5-star skill and better than average athleticism but difference-making quickness doesn't jump out. This highly rated bunch seems size, skill and IQ-heavy but athleticism-weak.

Demary will clearly help and we are surely after another guard in the portal and he'd better be an explosive, handling/defending type - not necessarily a big scorer. Diarra2 would be just fine. This would help fill several of the holes.

If our main and late minutes are coming from Demary, Mullins (or Karaban), Reed, Stewart (or Karaban) and Ball I'm not convinced we've fully solved the agility problem.

Did you miss the information on Demary and his defense. Also I believe Ball will level up his defense next year. Not to mention Mullins from the tape I have watched has terrific lateral quickness which should help him stay in front of his man.

So yes I think this question and or problem has improved with the current roster construction and what to expect from the returning players.

After the Seton Hall game disaster, it was clear the the team worked on inbounding plays. It really wasn’t a significant issue for the rest of the season.

We have Demary coming and more recruits in the portal in the pipe.

There's also 0 reason that Solo and Stewart can't become much better at getting to the line if they decide to play like big boys and put in the work. Stewart in particular has a BAG that should allow him to draw fouls if he gets his head right. It's all mental w/ him.

Wasn’t just our team with that problem. No matter how good your team is an opponent with quickness and length will cause problems getting the ball in.

I'm inclined to believe this as well, though I'm not sure how much. One thing I am sure is that Solo is not an idiot and fully understands that the perception that he is soft on D hurts his marketability at the next level. For that reason, if none other, I fully expect that to be a focus for him this summer.

We shall see though.

Solo also showed a lot more confidence down the stretch in taking his man off the bounce and getting to the hoop. I expect he’ll improve there a lot this offseason and he’s got all the tools to be a weapon.

Solo could have gone to the line a ton more times if he sought out contact in his drives. I’d like to think that will be one thing he will work on over the summer.
I can totally picture Solo taking it to the hoop and putting some people on posters next year. His outside shot will be top of the scouting report and he’ll use that to expose people at the rim. I remember feeling like Hawkins had just scratched the surface of that aspect of his game in the 2023 postseason.
