41-0 vs. Cincy last year vs. 37-13 this year. Improvement, stagnation, or have we gotten worse?

We're definitely better, but we're still not good. 2 years away

This team desperately needs the bye. Crazy that it won't come until week 10

Ive been watching UConn football since the 60s
This team blows my mind
You read that make believe football writer Desmond Conner state that the receiving corps are great - if so - UConn has faced the best defensive secondary almost every game these guys cant shake anyone.
The linebackers are getting worse every game
How many QBs is he carrying and if it's more than one - maybe a change once in a while might be a good idea.
The offensive line might as well wear NYG uniforms - neither can block or protect

I really felt that this coach was going to make a difference - yeah he is full of rah rah and it looks on paper like he can recruit athletes - but can they play?

Sorry to be a downer but watching this team is so very painful and I really don't see any bright spots this season

Has there been improvement? Maybe bits and pieces BUT in my opinion, I also see some retraction.

I thought the defense was a bright spot but watching Cincinnati churn it up for huge plays and marching up and down the field at will..................

How much time are people willing to put up with this level of play?

If you think there hasn't been improvement over the last two years then it might be time to get your prescription checked.

This team shows all the signs of a young, inexperienced football team - players and coaches included. Dumb penalties, untimely turnovers, questionable play calls. Yes, it's tough to sit and watch right now, but this team actually *looks* like a football team now. Not a good one, but better than the last few years. The players are getting bigger and faster. They're playing with heart and not giving up.

We can't expect to be world beaters halfway through year two. Progress takes time.

I believe there has been imporovement.

Yes, there has.

But how many more years do we have to see a score like: Cincinnati 37, UConn 13? Another 2 years? 4 years? Indefinitely?

Here's a question... How has Cincy stayed so good over so many years, and (more importantly) over multiple head coaches???? Let's take a look. Since FHCRE was here, and then PP, Cincy has had Mark DiAntonio, Brian Kelly (Diaco served on that staff), Butch Jones, and Tommy Tubberville. Four different head men since 2004. Yet during that time Cincy has gone to 9 bowl games, including 2 back-to-back New Year's Six/BCS bowls (Orange- '09 & Sugar- '10)... And UConn has just gotten worse and worse every season it seems like with little consistency on the field from year to year.

My question is this really just all Paul Pasquloni's fault?

This actually makes a lot of sense if you want to take the time and use your thinking cap.

Good coaches instill good values and recruit good kids. If you're jumping coach to coach, and those coaches are jumping ship for bigger and better programs, you were doing something right. Whether that be development or recruiting, you were laying groundwork down. Coming in to be the head coach after Brian Kelly is a lot easier than coming in with a bare cupboard

Diaco has 2 more years after this one to get UConn to at least a 7-5 record. Looking at our OOC in 2016 and 2017, that will be a decent achievement as we play some decent schools OOC (Virginia, SU, BC and Mizzou). If he can't get the job done, Joe Moorhead will be our coach in 2018.

I'm at the breaking point with this team. For being a defensive minded head coach Diaco is sure looking bad. Going with the same scheme over and over that constantly fails. Off coverage, no pressure is a recipe for disaster against Cincinnatijust like it was against BYU. The OL is terrible still can't recognize a blitz. That is on the coaches. Bailes can't fix that problem. When the have the right protection but a lineman is double teaming another player when the Blitzer runs by that's on the coaches. All of the returning OL from last year still suck.

Minimal improvement. We'd gotten all psyched up after coming close to a bad SEC team, giving away a game to an OK BYU team, beating a bad Army team, beating a bad-ish 'Nova team and killing basically a high school squad masquerading as UCF. There's little room fr any significant optimism after last night. Last night was fugly.

One was at home one was a sellout homecoming. So yes i would say improvement.

I don't need to check anything or relook
A 99% of those who posted here - when are the results coming? In our lifetime?
As I said - he is recruiting bigger and faster players but can he coach them to win?

Friday night against ECU will go a long way to answering that question. We have made it through the season with no injuries=thank you Caoch Balis- and we should be able to compete with ECU. Will we be able to function enough to get a W? If progress has been made we will win Friday night.

The scary part is that if Noel hangs on at end, its 30-20, and we might have fewer belly aching and more talk of progress. the best thing about that drop and the ensuing no-show drive by our D is that the score better reflected the as$ kicking we got. I felt good after 6 games. 2 weeks later it feels like 2014 again. Win or lose, this team better start showing more progress soon.
