The players do participate in the upside...Have you seen Mike Trout's contract?  Cole's?    Baseball is the only sport without a salary cap....players won't agree to it.  It is also against the CBA to have a performance based contract because the players won't have it.

When a player like Chris Davis "magically" hits 265 with 47 HR in a walk year, and now is hitting under 200 with 15 HR 2 years in a row they still get paid!

If as they claim, the owner will loose money for every game played if no fans are present, the smartest business decision is not to play.  Seems like players would rather get 0 than a  %.

I find it an interesting debate and the longer it lasts the less I dive a damn.. I'm done with baseball for this year and maybe longer.   I have empathy for the minor league guys not getting paid and the younger players in the show trying to make it....but the rest of them....

None of these folks are impacted the way the average person is and it's obvious neither side cares.
