I had no idea that everyone didn’t know what floaters and lattice were. I had heard people mention so I figured everyone just saw black spots all through their vision constantly. I was on vacation when my left popped but what I now know is lattice had gotten so bad I was going to make an appt when I got home. I’ll share what is now a funny story but could have been super embarassing. Was at a fancy resort in Bahamas. There were pools all over the property near our room. It was late afternoon but still sunny and hot. Walking back to the room like 15 minutes earlier there was a small wedding like 50 yards from our door. Decided to hit the pool near the room, closed my eyes so my wife could spray me with some sunscreen. When I opened them my left had detached and had lost 33% or so of vision. For someone who hasn’t had this happen it’s hard to explain.... it’s like you are looking through a colorful jellyfish - cloudy, shimmering and bright colors. Now I don’t want to panic - so we go to the pool - 30 yards from where this wedding was just minutes before. I’m totally thrown because I have no idea what is happening - I figure I may have had a stroke or something. Get to the pool and instead of taking off my shirt to get in - I took off my trunks. With one foot out my wife screamed WHALER what are you doing - luckily the wedding had wrapped up and cleared out. Told her about 3 hours later why it happened after I had googled enough to understand what it was.
