Has SNY network deal made us "King of New York"?

Was there a reason they chose us over Syracuse? And thats a serious question by the way

Enrolled UCONN freshmen have higher SAT scores, higher GPA's and higher class ranks than Syracuse. In short, the average UCONN student is objectively smarter than the average Syracuse student.

While that has not one whit of correlation as to why SNY chose UCONN, I sure liked typing that.

I think it was a strategic decision on their part to get SNY added to basic cable systems where the Mets were not themselves getting them on. This decision allowed them to gamble on ratings and ads while banking on an increase in the all important subscription fees. Getting UConn women helps them solidify that position and probably gets them negotiating power in increasing that fee.

Maybe some of our upstate yarders can chime in, but if I had to guess there was probably a strong overlap in where Syracuse fans live and where SNY was already part of the basic cable system, herego no significant marginal bump to subscriptions.

Oh yea, and because we are a way better product :)

Now this is a much better post than mine!

Synergy. The Met's Network wanted to get on cable systems outside of Fairfield County (NJ & NY were covered). UConn wanted more exposure in NYC & beyond.

SNY got 40+ games to broadcast from 2 elite college hoop programs with hall of fame coaches & shelves full of trophies.
