I have not, but I went through the list of inflammatory foods in the book, and started cutting them back. I have lost a decent amount of weight, but I feel so much better. Added processed sugar seems to have been the biggest villain for me, and I have cut it out almost completely. I don't read boxes or anything, but I no longer drink soda or any sugary drinks, basically no sweet deserts or candy, and do not eat breakfast cereal. I have cut back a little on gluten, and a lot on dairy too. Not sure how much of a difference either adjustment is making.

I’ve been doing this for 40 years, if the diet has a name, it’s a fad. Any success will be temporary.

I think that there is a cult aspect to most diets, which is actually understandable, because a component of overeating is mental and the diet wants the dieter to break what is typically an unhealthy relationship between the dieter and food by getting the dieter to commit mentally to another way of living. Most diets have one or more unreasonable commitments to, in a way, prove loyalty to the diet. Whole 30 is no different. As I noted, I did not do the actual diet.

But the premise of cutting back inflammatory foods is not unreasonable, and something doctors have recommended for years, albeit with haphazard results because doctors don’t get paid for you to eat better so many don’t care enough to actually help you figure out what is bad for you.

I am wondering if anyone else has tried to cut out inflammatory foods and what success they had. I know people for whom this has been life changing, not just in weight loss, but in quality of life.
