You got to be kidding right!!!

Colleen and I know more that a little about hoops, but who is she kidding!

Duke a power house. Maybe from the bottom up.

Louisville just got beat. I see more waitress position being filled in the ACC.

It might just be with SEC. And thats what makes the ACC so competitive is because of teams like Florida st. BC Pitt Syracuse beating and keeping games close against other elite teams. But being a UConn fan we can't talk look at our Conference lol. I would like to see us in the ACC Big 10 or back in the Big East

The SEC has 6 teams ranked in the top 22 at the moment, and the ACC has 7. Must be one of them. Oh, and there are 5 old Big East teams in the top 25. Not to mention Depaul, St. Johns and West Virginia getting votes.

Sagarin has the B10 rated #1 but only Maryland is in the top 20, so it's really just top 50 numbers that are boosting it. The ACC has 6 teams in the top 20 in Sags, so overall it would have the most meat at the top, even if some of it is raw or dead.

Could someone post the last time the ACC or SEC won a title (a.k.a. the only thing that matters)? A lowly mid-major school from the terrible AAC won both basketball titles last year.

W was prez, neither of my kids had reached college age, and I was a wealthier guy. ACC at 2006 and SEC at 2008.

Computers and cellphones had been invented though.

For us, it looks like the ACC and SEC and the other conferences have been working with Tom Brady on how to inflate their conference and deflate ours. He has the pin and knows how to use it.

Nonsense...forget the rankings. Just the opinion of a bunch of people who don't watch most of the games. Sagarin ratings have 3 SEC, 6 ACC, 4 B10, 2 AAC, 4 PAC12, 2 BIG12, and 4 others. Also has SEC ranked as 3rd best conference. Hard to see how SEC gets the nod as strongest conference.

Which conference would have the best All-Conference Team? I pick the AAC.

All Sagarin really tells us is that the mediocrity in these conferences is spread out, so I guess the one thing you can say is parity. After all, someone had to be ranked 10th or 23rd or 35th.

Louisville loves the ACC. They don't have to play UCONN!

There are a few other reasons.....

Apples and cucumbers.
Having the best team has nothing to do with having the strongest conference.

I agree. In my view, UConn won those titles, not the AAC. I know some conferences (ahem - "SEC! SEC! SEC!") fall back on conference solidarity when their own team is sucking wind, but that's one tradition I've never cared for. :p

While I do want the AAC to improve, it's merely because of what an improved conference would mean for UConn, not because I'm fond of it per se.

This calculation is about a week old, but looking at the Sagarin for just the top half of the conferences gives this ranking:
  1. ACC
  2. PAC
  3. SEC
  4. B12
  5. BiG
  6. AAC

As I'm sure we all realize from the 2013 FF, it's really only the top 3 teams in a conference that matter, because they're the ones who likely can grab three spots in the FF. :) That being the case, if you average the Sagarin ratings of the top 3 teams in the top 6 conferences, this shows the true strength for the P6.

1. ACC: 95.49 (ND, Louisville, FSU)
2. SEC: 95.12 (USCar, Tenn, MS State)
3. AAC: 92.86 (UConn, USF, Tulane)
4. B12: 91.52 (Baylor, Texas, OK)
5. B10: 91.11 (MD, Northwestern, Iowa)
6. PAC: 90.88 (ASU, OSU, Stanford)

I know you're all wondering how the SEC can be rated ahead of the AAC, but creampuff SOS Mississippi State seems to be getting too high a score, and Tulane just needs to crank its numbers up a bit.

It is a shame that we can't get out of the AAC though. I miss those close games (20-30 point wins).

It doesn't look good for UCONN ever getting out of the AAC! The only solution that I can see is for the AAC to get stronger. Our football team is holding UCONN back from going to another conference and I don't see that changing in the near future.

The rest of that quote must have been: "well, we aren't the best, no team in our conference is the best, no team in our conference can win the NC, but we are the best conference because we have a bunch of teams that are slightly better than average."
