What is (almost) unique to Alabama, however, is the lack of a single, let alone multiple, Power Five non-conference opponent(s) who was booked to come to Tuscaloosa between 2014 and 2019. That’s because that would probably require Alabama to also play said Power Five opponent(s) on the road in their college town, in their home stadium, in front of their home fans.

The Crimson Tide’s only regular-season, non-conference road games — not counting the early-season, neutral-site games Alabama has become accustomed to playing — under Nick Saban came at Duke in 2010 and at Penn State in 2011.

Forget non-P5. Alabama won't schedule P5 opponents out of conference for Home/Away series.

his fans prefer night games so he is lobbying for night games. imagine having an ad who makes public statements in support of what the fanbase wants.

Agree. At some point in recent years, from a business perspective, it has clearly become a Millennial World. We can be the unsuccessful old get off my grass types or adjust and be successful. We can no longer use the Baby Boomer lens on things.

*This* is the only answer to the question. Hey Bama - schedule someone, and you won't get stuck with an 11AM kick. It's really not that complicated.

Well Alabama plays in the SEC so that’s like playing 13 P5 games a year. Why shouldn’t they play the Citadel?

I was an SMU season ticket holder for many years. They’ve always had September games on Saturday evening.

Due to mid day heat, it looks like Alabama wants early season home games at night or a different scheduling mix? Maybe an opportunity for UConn with southern schools in general to do home/away series with an early Sept game in CT?
Alabama AD, president bemoan those hot September day games

We were there and went out with Nick and Terry to Archibald and Woodrow's BBQ that evening and he really is looking for a home and home with a New England school to enhance their chances to recruit more of the best players from CT and the other New England states. He's originally from Ohio and is fed up with Harbaugh getting all the best players from CT and then doing nothing with them.

There’s always opportunity in life - you just have to see it and take advantage of it when it’s there.

I would bet most everything I have that Alabama will not be doing a Home and Home (Rent) with UConn. I would most likely make the same bet relative to Alabama doing a Home and Home with BC. They do not give up home game lightly.

The only New England team the Bama fan base would not rebel against playing is, unfortunately, our frenemies from Chestnut Hill. Played them before and one of the few schools against which Bama does not have a winning record. Believe it or not Bama is 1-3 against them.

Unreal. You now how you would know if 'Bama actually wanted to play us home and home? You'd know because the series would be announced, because all the Tide have to do is pick up the phone and ask. Short of that, there is utterly no reason to think they want to come to the Rent.

Perhaps apropos of perhaps nothing I remember a high profile UConn soccer tournament on Labor Day werkend in Storrs. The teams from UMD and UNC were raving about the cool weather and resulting speed of the games.

You need to get up to speed. My point was their President is complaining to the SEC. If it doesn’t get satisfactory resolved, there is a potential opportunity there. We should not wait until that happens, we should ask them now. Start the conversation, so if they get an unsatisfactory response, we are first in line. As another poster mentioned, Bama may want a northeast game for recruiting and exposure. It could be in EH, MetLife or Gillette.
