The UConn women's basketball players on the bench make "fish signs" as a fun, specific celebration for their teammate,
Kelis Fisher.
The celebration involves the players making a fish face (or "emote") with their mouths and, in some cases, flapping their hands by their ears like fins. The gesture is an affectionate reference to Fisher, who has the nickname "Big Fish" (or sometimes "Lil Fish" by her teammates). The bench often performs this specific celebration after Fisher scores a basket or a free throw during a game.

Kelis is beaming with confidence!

Just commented on this in the USF postgame thread. Thanks for attaching the photos.

I will here and after refer to Kelis as “Big Fish” because that’s what she wants to be called and I suspect she will more than earn that nickname in her time at UConn.
Feel the same if she wants to be called Goddess? Just askin'. I figure her teammates know what she needs for now.

Frankly I view her more as a Barracuda......she's already proven to be dangerous on the court..
How about anyone with connections to the band, suggest the band start playing a few bars of Hearts-Barracudda when GupGup makes her first appearance into the game.

See how many games it takes before the talking heads covering the games figure it out.

Actually how many games would it take for her teammates to catch on.
🥸 👍

Geno: ' I told her to google the word GUPPY...'

If you Google "Guppy" besides being the name for a tropical fish the other meanings are not so flattering, I'll go with "Big Fish", " LiL Fish" or simply "Fish".
