The question begs- how does this happen over and over again? Or did we just not have the talent on the O Line for him to work with?
It begs no question. Asst. O-line coach has dreadfully little responsibility. He was probably given the job as a favor. He was "acting" O-line coach for a grand total of about 28 days and the Browns hired someone else.
Besides the appearance that the college game seemed to pass these two particular "coaches," they had both been in the NFL too long between college stints. NFL players prove week in and week out that they have the appropriate self-motivation and drive by virtue of being NFL players. Incoming 18 year old college freshmen don't necessarily have this level of drive and may need a kick in the pants from time to time. Judging by teams performance between 2011-2013 and the comments Diaco made last year about strength and conditioning of the team as a whole, these two individuals were ill-prepared to provide that motivation.
