Post-NFL draft, ESPN comparison of the capabilities of Dwayne and Blidi, why Jacksonville versus Tennessee for each guy, coaches' comments, etc. Great for both to be picked by NFL teams!

Like Wilson can't really say anymore then those guys did in article, glad I get to buy both their shirts

Our local angry reporter found the article very insulting to Dwayne Gratz...but I concur with you guys.

He and another BY took exception to this statement: "He’s a guy who looks at though his agent talked to the right people and they pumped him up pretty good."

Don't blame them.

It's every single agent on the planet's job to talk to the right people and pump up their client. I don't find the above statement insulting at all. If anyone thinks Jacksonville picked Dwayne in the 3rd round based solely on his agent's sales pitch, they don't have a clue how the NFL works.

Maybe my bad for not including the whole quote: "Gratz, he’s the NFL Network player. He’s not the player on the field. He’s a guy who looks at though his agent talked to the right people and they pumped him up pretty good. Blidi Wreh-Wilson is the better player.” To me it sounds like "they" are saying he didn't deserve it.

The whole quote changes everything. That's a slap in the face and definitely insulting.

I always thought BWW was a better pro prospect than Gratz. Although Gratz was my kind of corner - I love cornerbacks who can help stop the run.

As the draft neared it seemed that Gratz had some steam and while most people were probably surprised he went a few picks earlier its seemed possible going in.

I did not know how many times Gratz was talked into staying at UConn, but great job by everyone who supported him and got him to the draft.

With respect to the article I find it hard to believe that teams pick based on what player's agents say going in. If you like someone you take him when you have the chance - 30+ guys come off the board between your picks, if you see something it's likely someone does too.

I agree that BWW is the better player, but to assert that Gratz went higher because his agent talked him up is absurd.

Well, Darius always looked more talented than Tyvon in college....

Blidi was a physical corner too. He was injured allot thought. Blidi had two very memorable hits. One against Michigan where he knocked the wr out of the game, and one against wvu where he either forced a fumble or an incomplete pass.

I was really impressed with Jhavon Williams and think he could follow the lineage of NFL dbs.

I love Branch and he was great at UConn and has been the program's best professional player.

I still hate that he fumbled the opening kickoff at BC in UConn's first BE game.

I was so fired up that day - and took so much crap in the parking lot from my girlfriend's BC friends and I was UConnDan97 confident they were going to win.

The thing for Gratz is he started the last 41 consecutive games of his career at UConn.. I believe that he's an undervalued press corner. If you watched him play he's very physical at the line although I believe Blidi should have gone before Gratz. Gus Bradley has a knack for corners and is a pretty good evaluator of corners and I believe blidi and Gratz will have a long career. Both are extremely humble every time i talked to them they were always down to earth, I truly think they difference for the draft was the durability and the play making ability of Gratz. I still like Blidi a lot though(I think he should have been a 2nd rd pick).

I forget which game it was this season. Gratz had to take on the lead blocker on a sweep so that the safety behind him could make the tackle, he just went in and leveled the guy. The guy is just an all around physical corner. He also looks like an NFL DB ought to look.

I'm not saying this degrade Blidi, just think that Gratz is not getting full credit by some in the media.

Pretty sure that wasn't Branch, but Allan Barnes that fumbled there.

That would be awesome if I was wrong all these years at the wrong guy. Didn't even drink that night!

Does anyone know who had more passes defended last year. Was wondering if teams shied away from passing to blidi side

Taking the position that BWW is the better player is fine (it's my position actually). But to insinuate that Gratz was picked first because his agent pumped him up is just ridiculous.

To have two cornerbacks from one team chosen in the draft that closely together is amazing in terms of the perceived value of both players. Obviously both were rated very closely. NFL teams select players who fit what they do best and who complement their existing players. I love both of these guys and I think they can both be successful DBs in the pros. Hopefully both will be able to stick with NFL teams and we can argue later over who is having a better NFL career. We will miss you DGratz and Blidi!!

yeah, way angry reporter for sure. And by the way, Gratz may have been good...but I saw him get burned many many times this past season. I pointed it out to said angry reporter and was slammed for saying so.
