I know it's in today's links, but a special shout out to Graham Hays for his piece on the win yesterday:
UConn has fun matching win streak record

But the Huskies were smiling too soon -- Samuelson grinning from ear to ear even before the ball was tipped -- for the joy to be the product of the play. The joy had to be the source.

***

What this team is doing might cast aspersions on any progress made by the rest of the country in catching up to UConn. This team might also be the strongest testament to everything UConn is.

Well...that's pretty cool, and speaks volumes to the underlying philosophy/psychology of this organization.

Geno&Company are able to 'sell' most of the players on the concept of subverting the immediate gratification of showcasing their individual numbers for, the greater good of the team. In turn, if they buy into Geno's 'long game', they have the opportunity to become, individually, the best of the best, while experiencing the joy of being part of something bigger than any one individual.
