good start to Sydney Wiese's WNBA career

I wasn't sure how well she would transition to playing professionally. It's really early, but so far so good. 2-3 behind the 3 point arc in her debut for the Sparks, but that was just a warm-up. 6-10 behind the arc and 22 points in her second game.

That was a great game to watch. The Sparks had 3 players fly in the day before but still played the game. Weise really won them the game.

We'll see how Wiese does when she finally shows up in coaches' scouting reports. If she's defended like Christmas defended Maya, nobody's throwing a parade for Syd. The Mystics are easily the worst defensive team in the league. I congratulate Wiese for working hard in transition in the Mystics game and coming through on those wide open threes, but I'm still in wait-and-see mode with her. I'm not ready to make her All Rookie on the basis of one game against a poor defensive team.

She did virtually nothing in 11 minutes against the Fever yesterday.

Like any rookie, she will have her ups and downs. It remains to be seen whether
the ups are going to outnumber the downs.
