How can the local paper covering the Huskies post a series of photos identifying NC as AS? Is there any competence left in journalism. I have to assume that the employee writing the captions has never seen a UCONN game and that there is absolutely zero proofing of anything that appears in today' newspapers!

Wow I guess you are ok with that incompetence from a paper that should know better. If it was some out of town paper, that's one thing, but the local paper???

I do take your point. But it's probably some unpaid intern that made the quick identification. It's an identification buried 6 photographs into it, and only crazy people like you and me will click on all these and even care about it. In a couple of years, there won't be newspapers to criticize anyway. We will all be dealing only with social media whose problems and social dangers we all now know only too well.

Newspapers make mistakes all the time. Why not just email them and have them correct it? They'd appreciate that.

Or it could be a staff writer who doesn’t normally cover sports, but who has to edit their own copy, do the page layout, keep up the web page, answer the phone, correct the want ads, AND who gets paid 30k per year. The erosion of the local newspaper economic base has forced them to do more with less; fewer employees are doing more tasks. Today, newspaper journalism is little more than a stepping stone to a better job.
