Glad for the kids. We made a definitive statement. We are not the worst. Maybe there’s a glimmer of hope for the future. The D seems to be an enigma. Total trash this week. Very solid last week against top shelf athletes. Total trash the week prior. Not sure what gives.

Seeing them celebrate in the locker room chanting the school fight song should be a lot of motivation for them to work so that get to taste that feeling a few more times this year. Time to stop the home losing streak vs. FBS opponents next week

Not sure how much they would have helped as even when they were on field the defense has been a sieve.

I am very intrigued with Jones though. I think he might just end up being an nfl player when all is said and done.

Just so happy for the players as this was big for them. They won on the road and won against a FBS team for the first time in three years.

The offense was clicking with the run and pass today. With the offensive line doing a great job and not giving up a sack while making big holes for the running game.

The defense was sloppy the first half, and came out the same. Then something clicked and they stopped them until the last drive of the game for UMass.

Nice win no matter how you look at it.

Against UMess, missing Jones for 1H (dubious Houston call) and LBs Gilmartin and Morgan and S Harrell (injuries) may not have helped.

Mitchell and Swenson have done a good job replacing Morgan and Gilmartin. The injury of Harrell is problematical. His backup is Robinson. Oneil is one of our few players in our secondary that turns his head and makes plays on the ball. He led the team in interceptions last year and had one in the Umass game. His problem is that he gets beat often in coverage and is a awful tackler. He got benched and was replaced by Robert King yesterday after giving up a touchdown pass. Robert was beaten badly last week on that 50 yard touchdown pass in the second half of the Houston game. Our second best coverage guy after Keyshawn Paul is Tahj Herring-Wilson and he was out yesterday as well. Injuries have definitely weaken our defense.
