The key is that the ACC doesn't have much T3 content (in blue) to sell (compared to the SEC).

Of course, that leaves a huge discrepancy in Tier #3. While the SEC has 53 games leftover for its network, the ACC is left with a mere 14 games, which is clearly not enough. The obvious solution is to take some of those ESPN Tier 1 games and show them on a new ACC Network channel. Of course, that could create an inventory shortage for ESPN, I suppose, but then they do seem to have an awful lot of G5 games which are currently being relegated to ESPN3...

Interesting. If they need more content, why not just add Cincy and UConn?

I assume it's not the number of teams or games that's the problem, it's the distribution by contract.

...and we would be added to the same contract.

This is why I thought there's no way ACC gets a network by itself; ESPN and ESPN2 need content and they are relying on the ACC for much of it.

The B12 has a different problem, lack of footprint.

If they want a network, they should team up and make the B12+ACC network. Add in cross-conference rivalry games to grow interest in the opposite league's footprint.

Trouble is not adding new members, but shedding some deadbeats. The ACC carries too much unproductive baggage. The SEC - not so much.

The numbers are stark. The P-5 conferences' latest per team payout was as follows: ACC - $22.1m, Big 12 - $25.3m, PAC 12 - $25.5m, B1G - $27.6m and the SEC - $34m.

The SEC payouts are more than 50% higher than the ACC. Whatever the BS to the contrary - if Clemson and FSU could duck out of the ACC to make the SEC a 16 team conference, they would in a heartbeat.

The B1G payout is about to explode when the next contract is signed.
All right, all right, stop selling...we're in.

Do we have time to get this on the field for the Spring game?
