Well, at least now I have some more data to add to my HS Ranking list. How Diamond Deshields ever got ranked that high despite NEVER earning an All-American collegiate award nor even an honorable mention and never mind the fact she wasn’t even the consensus #1 is beyond me.
I see 12 UConn players (note it’s not Uconn but UConn!) And that’s with Delle Donne listed as Delaware. Tennessee clocks in 2nd with 7.
It definitely takes pro game into great consideration, hence why Leslie is #1 and why Diamond is as high as she is. Diamond has done very well in the pros so far and is the only player from the 2013 or 2014 HS classes to earn All-WNBA honors. That said, Russell was #1 on more lists than Diamond coming into college IIRC.
If we look at collegiate career alone, Diamond would be a lot lower while someone like Holdsclaw would be in strong contention for #1 overall instead of being at #17. If we look at HS career solely, Miller, Parker, and Maya would probably be your top 3 in any given order.
Overall though, I don't follow a lot of the logic with this list. Like how do you put KLS and Courtney Paris below Christyn Williams, Megan Walker, Chana Perry and Haley Jones? Makes zero sense.
