My guess is he either reaggravated that, or more likely, that he is still dealing with instability of the shoulder joint itself which would require another surgery on the shoulder capsule. The dislocations cause the capsular ligaments to be stretched out and they never return to their previous tensile strength, so now when he reaches or moves the arm in a particular direction he may experience pain or feel like it’s about to sublux or dislocate again.
