Question for those with such knowledge: Once a player signs a LOI with a school can they get out of it if they change their mind before arriving on campus? For example, lets say one of ND's recruits for next year was really put off by MM's behavior at the Final Four and decided she did not want to play for a coach like that.
Could she get out of her commitment at this point without having to sit out a year?

In 99.999% of cases, no.

It may be possible if the coach grants the player a release from the LOI. But no coach would ever do that.

Also, there is a transfer exception whereby if there are extreme personal circumstances (ie, sick parent), the NCAA will allow a player to transfer home without sitting out.

There have been a number of cases where players were released from their LOI's at this stage. It's not that unusual.

Also if the school refuses to grant a release, there is an appeals process to a special committee of the NLI program (not the NCAA).

Since we may not get Wilson, how do we get Brianna Turner to decide MM is just too mean and disrespectful to play for?
We do nothing. Otherwise, the NCAA will ban UConn from the postseason, take a scholarship or two, or otherwise punish the university because fans couldn't keep themselves from doing some recruiting. Please, let the coaches do the recruiting. They know the rules and won't do anything to endanger the program.

Apparently I should have been more clear that I was being 'lighthearted' in my thought. It was meant as a sarcasm regarding MM's behavior, NOT as some kind of suggestion regarding nefarious action. Lesson learned, but not necessarily appreciated.
