Updated spreadsheet with the USCar data here.
Never felt completely comfortable in this game until the middle of the 3rd quarter. At the end, the game scoring stats weren't that different: 4 more FG (3 of them threes) one more FT. Other than the assists count (14 vs. 7) everything else was pretty comparable.
Despite all the denigration of SEC WBB, I'd have to say USCar played pretty good defense tonight. It's been some time since our team scored only 66 points in a game, and not all of that was due to those clanged shots at the beginning of the 3rd.
But UConn played better defense. *Really* high energy from whatever 5 were on the floor at any time. Hands tipping passes, extreme effort in grabbing rebounds.
I think Moriah has played her way into the #2 draft pick with her defense. There were even a couple of series where she ended up being the sole defender on close-in shots by A'ja and Coates that were missed.
Good show, ladies! Thanks!
