The Geno presser is worth the listen as he touches upon many items that are both observed here on the BY and unsaid.
#1. Carla was at the game yesterday and given her support of Kaitlyn, it sounds like Geno, despite seeing the gaps in the game many have noted (defense lapses, poor pass decisions) that Kaitlyn is a Geno favorite.
#2. Unsaid in his comments is how he truly feels Carla is as a coach and to me, seems like the heir apparent.
#3. He talked nicely about Morgan and what she brings in practice and the games so far and talked about a 4-guard lineup with Sarah. How logical that is against the likes of SoCal and SCar or other elite teams with quality front court size is unknown but sure against most of our schedule, having Sarah at the 5 would work.
#4. Despite some of the "click bait" on the internet with fans being up in arms on Jana's lower minutes, I think Geno is trying to get her involved and is holding her to a higher standard. She is not similar to Stewie in any form despite a few well-known posters assertations stating such (ahem this is at you
@Bone Dog and you
@oldude ) but she does offer more skills at the 5 than we've had in quite awhile and I do think she will become a very good player. However, If such continued statements that Jana reminds people of Stewie continue despite zero evidence, I will post the 4-year stat history of Stewie to remind everyone how great she was and what all-around skills she possessed to make Stewie a generational player (could run, dribble, shoot the 3, lethal mid-range jumper, 80% Career FT shooter, 7'1" wingspan on defense just to name a few that are missing from Jana's arsenal).
#5. He did address a question about Audi Crooks which was interesting as it seemed to me to be a quasi-challenge to our frontcourt players to match up. This may be Jana's best opportunity but given the comments on the Sarah and 4 guard lineup, I could see that effort get considerable time on Tuesday. I am rooting for Jana though as I do like her and think we need her intimately involved to win #12.
#6. I do think Georgetown had a nice and remarkable run last year, but this year has been a disappointment on their results regardless of how Geno tries to pump them up.
