Thoughts on the matchup v.s. Georgetown on Wednesday? Both teams not playing well of late. Obviously it tough going on the road...how do we match up? I'm sure we can expect to see a lot of zone in this game.

FWIW, Georgetown barely zoned us last year if I recall correctly. We came into that game having lost 3 of 5 including an absolute man-handling at the hands of St. John's who made it look like we weren't going to beat a zone all season. They're mostly a man team and it doesn't seem like JT3 likes changing that up too much.

As for matchups, well which Bazz, AO, JL, AD, etc... are you referring to? Unless you are putting money on the game, its basically watch and see what happens. Unpredictable is the key word this season. I will say with us being national champs that Georgetown will be playing better than ever, especially since we are bleeding.

this could be a crossroad game for the season. it could be the begining of the end or the game that gets this team turned around and going in the right direction.

I keep expecting this team to come out pretty fired up for various reasons, but I think the loss of the ranking is going to fire up this team. Both teams are coming off losses, so should be a tough battle between both teams. I think we have more to prove and for that reason will play a little harder and come out on top. I'll be there. Any other Boneyarders gonna be at the Verizon Center for the game?

Gtown is a completely different team this year, they zone a decent amount and have a lot of length with guys like Porter, Wittington, and Trawick capable of playing up top. JT III has changed his style to his teams strengths this year and it is paying major dividence.

The matchup with gtown and anybody else from here out is going to depend on AO. We need him to do what he did last year down the stretch, and if he does all other aspects of our offense will benefit. You watch, we will become a better 3 point shooting team again, also start to run again. AO has the physicality and toughness that took us to a national championship, and Drummond is not soft but he's freshman so it's unfair to lay the responsibility of leadership on his back. Sounds simplistic but without AO this year it won't likely happen.

I don't think I'd be surprised by any outcome tomorrow. Can this team turn it around quickly? We lost to Cinci because of turnovers, Tennessee because we couldn't put the ball in the basket, and lost to ND because we shouldn't have lost the rebounding battle.

A few points I think are important for the Gtown game:

Can we be physical with Sims around the rim, and make sure we don't leave the floor until he does? No way can we let him pump fake and dish, this guy can pass as well as score and their guys can finish around the rim.

Can we prevent Thompson from going off? This is Roscoe's chance to show everyone how big of a part of the defense he was last year, and to earn minutes away from Giffey and Daniels. Stopping him from beyond the arc, while not giving up any other easy shots will be a tough challenge.

Porter is really good, nice for a freshman, leading the team in rebounds. Another test to see if we can get the old Alex from last year to show up and see if he can push around a younger, smaller guy the way he should. Will AO's bulk win out against Porter's agility? Let's hope he doesn't put his mid range shooting on display. I think this is the most important matchup to the game that we need to win, but who knows.

Totally agree with this.

Sims and Thompson are good players and those are good matchups to watch. However, I am more concerned about the Jason Clark/ Napier matchup. Napier better have the best defensive effort of the year in order for him to slow down or contain Jason. I am confident that Roscoe can shut down Hollis Thompson because Roscoe proved last year he could shut down the best perimeter player on the opposing team.

Nothing will surprise me at this point. I have no idea what team will show up, who JC will even play, and whether Georgetown will have their A or B game, instead of the C game. I'd say the swing is about 30 points. Win by 15, lose by 15, or anything in between.

The thing that scares me is usually youre able to ask "which team will show up? The dominating hungry team, or the struggling unmotivated team?" But only one team has shown up thus far into the SEASON. With the exception of the last 6 minutes of the WVU game.

During the end of WVU they ran the 2-2-1 zone press, which got the defensive intensity up, disrupted the WVU offense, created fastbreak opportunities and easy baskets. I don't know why we don't run it more.

I'll be in attendance for the game tomorrow. I've been to the last 2 meetings against the Hoyas at the VC, both ending in disappointment. At least Hibbert isn't here to hit the winning 3 this time.

Anyone going? I'll be at the Green Turtle pregame if anyone is around.
