I know this is a waste of time but I think we need to give this a rest. No matter how inept he is, nothing is going to happen until this season is over. Would rather see our energy focused positively to support the team during the season. I don't have any inside info but suspect there will be major changes in the off season.
ESPN only has stats back to 2004, DeLeone's last year as OC: http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/stats/_/id/183/year/2004/syracuse-orange
Passing was terrible -- 170 yards per game, 8 TDs, 14 INTs -- but rushing was OK -- 178 yards per game, 4.5 yards per carry. They ran 60% of snaps.
Compare that to us this year: running is 56% of snaps, 2.8 yards per carry and 102 yards per game, passing is 208 yards per game 4 TDs 10 INTs. We have a better passing rating than the 2004 Orange, 116 to 110. Rushing is much worse. Yards per game is 310 vs 348.
I would say similar style.

Statistically it looks like the style of play hasn't changed.
DeLeone stats at Syracuse after 1999 (he left Syracuse to coach SD Chargers O Line in 1997, returned to Syracuse in 1998 and was D Coordinator for a year before taking over offense in 99). Then as a refresher bring in the Temple numbers, his last 2 yrs in college game before coming to UConn.
1999: Syracuse 80th in nation in total offense (335), 39th rushing, 88th passing
2000: Syracuse 52nd in total offense, 18th rushing, 92nd passing
2001: Syracuse 93rd in total offense, 41st rushing, 98th passing (the heralded 10-3 season)
2002: Syracuse 54th in total offense, 34th rushing, 79th passing (4-8)
2003: Syracuse 70th total offense, 26th rushing, 91st passing (6-6)
2004: Syracuse 78th total offense, 31st rushing, 100th passing
2006: Temple 118th in total offense, 118 rushing, 98 passing
2007: Temple 112th in total offense, 108 rushing, 73 passing
Average finish: 85th in nation total offense in last six Syracuse years only, average finish 93 in 8 years including Temple. That's 85th out of 120 or so.
Let's pretend JH actually asked PP about his offensive philosophy and who he'd hire as OC - and I highly doubt that question was ever asked.
"So Paul tell me your thoughts on offense and how you'll handle it." "Well I got my lifelong buddy here who I coached with Southern in the 1970s. Did I tell you we're good buddies with all the Connecticut high school coaches?"
