The Huskies shot 93% (13 of 14) in the 3rd quarter last night reminding me of Villanova's 1985 win over Georgetown in the men's championship game. When asked how his team managed to shoot an astonishing 89% (8 of 9) in the second half, Massimino quipped, "We missed a shot."

Villanova's performance in 1985 is legendary. They did it in a pressure packed national championship game against a team that really got after it on defense. And, it was a very close game throughout with just a 2 point winning margin. Heckuva game. Many national championship games are very easily forgotten. That game will live on.

Well, OK then. But didn’t it come to light later that several players on Villanova were high on various chemicals? Hard to be proud of that.

It was a legendary game but feel free to focus on the imperfections .

I am only aware of one Villanova player having issues with one illicit drug during the season excluding the national championship game, but also including the trip to the White House. It was a classic victory for Villanova, the drug issue not withstanding.

REG: Rollie quite a guy - the Round Mound of Coaching Clowns. (Am disappointed to hear of drug issues re anyone on the team, of course, if accurate.) Actually that whole season for the Wildcats has some interesting subplots leading to the final story of victory. Several of the big guns were from CT. The Big East was jammed with good teams, and Nova lost about as many as it won in conference play that year and in the conf playoffs. Most all their NCAA tourney games were real nail-biters to the end.

With Trumbull High School's Harold Jensen's 100% shooting performance.
