UConn women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma's mounting victory totals, coach of the year awards, conference championships and national championships have escaped no one's notice. With somewhat less fanfare, Auriemma has been building a culinary empire as well.
Geno's Fast Break at Mohegan Sun includes Geno's Pub, Geno's Bagels, Subs & Sweets and even Wok On by Geno's. It was the opening of Geno's Grille in Storrs that took the charismatic coach's interest in fine dining, suggested by his lines of sauces (Geno's Sauce) and wines (Geno Auriemma Wines), to the next level. And now, with the opening of a second Geno's Grille in the Southington space formerly occupied by Bonterra, it's increasingly clear that upscale dining is where his heart lies.
