I spent six weeks traveling Europe this past fall. While staying in the city that I was born in which is Frigento I asked my cousins if we could take a ride to Montella, which was about 30 miles away. They asked me why? And, I tried to explain to them the reason behind it. They sort of understood. For me it was just to see if there were any UConn flags draped over the balconies. However, I knew that it was the wrong time of the year. I would bet that there will be a few now. Geno is four years older than me. But we share the same story. This includes our birthplaces in Southern Italy, about emigrating to America and the hardships that our families while growing up in the States. Geno was born in Montella, Italy on March 23, 1954. This photo was taken by me as we were driving to the city.

I didn’t know where Montella was so I checked the map…about 40 miles or so due West of Salerno (in which we reularly stay)…South of Napoli that we love.
Next time, must must explore central Campagna; didn’t have a car this time.

We stayed over the holidays in Agropoli on the coast to the South; adjacent to the fantastic Greek temples of Paestum…a must visit…before spending January in the Dolomites skiing, pre-olympics.

Goodness, we love that part of Italy; can’t wait to return.

A couple years ago I was on a trip that included a drive from Naples to Felito. That drive didn't take us through Montella but it would've been close enough for a side trip had I thought about it at the time. Oh well, headed back to Italy next month but we will be too far north for a trip to Montella.
