Geno on Dee, "She's the most positive human I've been around. If she played w/ a team of 11 dopes, she'd have something great to say about each 1."

Geno on Dee, "she's the only woman who could actually play for a men's team. That drive is what makes her the best player in the world."

Geno on Dee, "I measure every player I coach against her. She is the greatest teammate, player + asst. No one will ever do what she has done."

Dee Kanter is the reason people go to a WBB game, after all. So the mistake is a natural one to make.

The game has elements of Shakespeare: part comedy, part tragedy.

I loved Dee too. She is really the one that got me into UConn basketball. Her and Sue...but Diana just wore her heart on her sleeve and played with so much emotion. Loved watching her, still do.

HA! She is the opposite of Kelly. Dee isn't my hero, though :)

I really appreciate Diana's talent but I think that Maya is every bit as good or better and she's had the same influence over every team she has played for.

Diana Taurasi actually willed her team to victories and championships, everywhere she played.

We will never see her likes again.
I don't disagree, but there is a certain 22-year old who already has won 3 Georgia championships, 2 NCAA championships, 4 Big East championships, 1 World Championship, 1 WNBA championship, 1 Spanish League championship, and 1 Euroleague championship. She loses a game at any level seemingly once in a blue moon and has lost something like 3 home games over the equivalent of 9 seasons.

"I just wanted to punch something Orange." DT
To me that killer instinct, ability to put a team on her back
and carry them to victory is what sets DT apart from the
mere mortals of WBB.

An impressive resume for a 22 yr old! And one suspects it will continue to expand.
At the same stage in their careers, DT had 1 more NCAA title, 1 less WNBA title, an Olympic title to match the World title, a couple fewer Big East season/championship titles (I think), and I think the same number of overseas titles? I am not going back to their HS careers.
Both are pretty d___ impressive!

The list is impressive. However at the end of the day, we as individuals will all have our favorites and mine for the record is and has always been Dee. A wild child, rapscallion, spirited, someone with such joy for life and basketball, someone who despite this sprite-like wise-ass personality shed many tears after trying so hard to win that game against Notre Dame without success, and went on to will her teams to win especially after TASS left - the one who made her mistakes, owned up to them, and one who fought to keep her name clean against adversity, the one who got herself into great physical shape and did that daring photo-shoot, and the one who has won multiple titles and - I could go on and on....that one person is Dee. She is my favorite Husky. She's not an angel, but then again neither am I.

I love both Dee and Maya. They are both as special a basketball players as there ever been. DT is the reason I started watching WBB and the reason I became a fan (Sue Bird had something to do with that as well). A player who clearly loves the game more than anything else and who is playing with so much skill, fun and joy and will do anyting needed to win!

Rady (1) admits to not being an angel and (2) uses the word "rapscallion." Nice post!

Same stage in their careers--literally--because both were born on June 11. I'm still amazed by that factoid.

My autospell keeps insisting on "red scallions."

As to Rady she only sings like an angel.

Thank you Mil.....I was given a word-a-day calendar one year, and on April 1st the word of the day was "Rapscallion" (not the red kind :p). I looked it up. It meant, a "scamp" or a "rascal".

I liked it. BTW, did I mention that my birthday is April 1st? ( insert lil' devil smiley here)

You are a rapscallion, indeed!
