That's just the contribution made by the University of Connecticut, which is a small fraction of what was raised by the event. I, too, thought it was weird that they made such a big deal of it at halftime, but I think ESPN' wanted to emphasize the feel good aspects of the relationship between Geno and Pat, or at least to balance out the edgier parts of the relationship. I'm quite certain that the amount raised for the foundation is many multiples of the amount reflected in that ridiculously oversized check.
