Geno on body language still inspires

This is from several years ago, but wanted to note that I've seen multiple big-time sports figures on Twitter call it out as being the exact right message.

Kirk Herbstreit, lead CFB analyst for ABC, has it *pinned* at the top of his Twitter feed.

That's pretty darn impressive for a WCBB coach to get that kind of respect and shows why our Geno has had such an amazing career.

"If I look on the bench and you're asleep, or you're not engaged in the game, then you will NEVER get in the game." When Sam last visited UConn, she was in the crowd rather than on the bench, but otherwise Geno's statement applies precisely to what occurred -- and the stated consequences followed.

Recruits usually sit 1-3 rows behind the bench, but not always. Where was Sam sitting? Sam usually plays most of her Monroe games. I've never heard anything about her body language on the bench, but I'll keep that in mind. I thought the problem was that Sam ultimately was deemed not quick/fast enough, plus there may have been parental issues.

When scouting Geno looks for total effort at all times on the floor and on the bench. This was a topic a few times when the questions came up about how a state player of the year ( 2x ) or an All American does not get an offer from UConn.

Are you still talking about Samantha here? Samantha visited UCONN TWICE ON HER OWN DIME with her parents. That would surely have been enough to pass any enthusiasm for the program/body language requirement.
State player of the year (2X) who doesn't get a UCONN offer? You have to be more specific. In any given year that is at least 45 kids. Serious question, would Samantha be the first player (EVER) to be ranked #1 overall and not get an offer from BOTH UCONN & ND?

This is great. The take is right on and should be adopted by every coach. I do credit HCGA for admitting that it is easier for him to do that because he usually has so much talent at his disposal. I think that he will go down as one of the best coaches ever, in any sport.

Exacty, spot on Coco....I thought I was thorough enough when I explained the situation back in March....She had an offer, she wanted to go to UConn but evidently, like every other top 20 2019 recuit, UConn dropped the ball...maybe things are changing at UConn

FYI, there is a Notre Dame message board for women's basketball. You'll find lots of friends there who may enjoy rehashing Notre Dame winning the recruiting battle for Sam.

You're welcome here but resurrecting the Sam/UConn saga after things had finally settled down is maybe not the best choice. I do realize how the mind wanders and wonders in the wee hours of the morning, though. Maybe try some eggnog.

This might be My favorite thing Geno has ever said. I’ve listened to it multiple times before. I’m not a UCONN fan and I’m not even a big fan of Geno. But I do enjoy listening to Him from time to time because He’ll say things like this.

This is how Stefanie Dolson got his attention when he first saw her in HS. He was at a game scouting another player, but couldn't help but notice Stef's hustle and refusal to quit or not play hard. We all know how that turned out.
