He has now seen her two times in what, less than a week? Think he's going to try and lock this up before the season is over by the frequency of recruiting visits.

If Geno didn't think UCONN had a solid chance of landing Diamond he wouldn't have made two trips within a week to see her play.

If DD wants to win a championship and be a star, UConn is the place for her. Geno talked about it on the show once, I think, about kids who could have gone elsewhere and scored 3000+ points, but came to UConn and scored less than 2000 (oh, the shame!) and got a few rings in the process. Most would take that, I would think.

At Uconn, with all the media and attention, everything you do that's good is considered GREAT, and everything you do that's GREAT gets you a banner with your name on it.

I have to admire Geno for his work ethic as a coach, he does not sit around & lick his wounds. Great teams need to recruit greet players to play as a team. That is what makes him special.

Diamond must not only be a great player, but a special person as well. Geno has stated several times that he looks closely at a kid's personality before he makes a decision to recruit her.

Because if a kid goes anywhere else, like Notre Dame, Baylor, Stanford, they have no chance at a title and being a star? Maybe throw Texas A&M in there.

Maryland did win a championship not that long ago.

But what can he do besides sit and watch her? He's not allowed to talk to her, right?

Not no chance, but the past has shown that at UConn, they have a better chance. Does that bother you?

And players can be stars at any school.

His just being there sends a pretty loud message, don't you think?
I hope so, but she must know how badly we want her by now. Anyway, who knows what goes on in the minds of these kids.

I don't know, Sonny....you seemed to think you knew when you posted that she had a 0"big fish in a little pond syndrome".

You're taking that out of context. That whole thread was conjecture regarding why DD (or any other HS star) would choose Maryland (or any lesser program) over UCONN. I simply posed another possibility as part of refuting DD being "scared" to come here.

In that case, she should go to Tennessee. History shows that you have a better chance there.

And of course it doesn't bother me. I am fully happy to recognize greatness, which is what UCONN represents. I just find the "if she wants to win a championship" speek to be less than appealing. I see it on the Baylor board, and it is true to some extent. Had Baylor nabbed a top 10 recruit for the 2011 class it probably would have secured a national championship for the team this year, and possibly next.

I'll go with history. How many times have these other schools been National Champs?
The odds are with Uconn.

One more than UCONN: Tennessee. And I truly thought that Tennessee had a chance this year before the announcement of Pat's illness and subsequent diminished role. The current Tennessee squad needs Pat's belly-fire more than any of her past teams, IMO, and she is just not able to give it.

There is just this assertion that if a player doesn't go to UCONN that they are somehow wasting their career. Apparently a championship is not always the biggest factor or every top player would go to UCONN or Tennessee. EDD apparently cared more about more than a championship. She knew she was giving up a chance for that when she left and she was OK with that.

But you have to start somewhere. Baylor may have one this year and possibly next.

I kind of liken this argument to LeBron James. If he wins a championship in Miami it will not really be "his" championship. If he had stayed in Cleveland and won one with that franchise he would have had much more pride in it. Maybe some kids like the challenge of being part of something that they had a bigger part in.
