UConn will see the Best teams the BIG East has in the conference tournament. That's the best they can do. It's anticipated they'll see DePaul and Marquette in the final two games. Other teams are facing the same dilemma we are. Both teams should give UConn a good game, and allow Geno the opportunity to make some final tweaks and adjustments before NCAA tournament play begins. IMO we're much better off being in the BIG East than we were in the AAC. The BE has their bottom feeders too, but I like it better here. Too bad UConn can't schedule a top 10 OOC team the final week of the season. THAT would provide a great final tune-up game.

Historically Geno has faced this problem year after year. In the old Big East, in the AAC, and now in the new Big East.
And he still wins more tournament games than anyone.
Have you heard the old saw that history repeats itself?

Or more simply, as some of my BY brethren might say:
"In Geno, we trust"

No issues. Geno is a great coach and there is nothing anyone can do about the conference schedule. If Geno takes this young team all the way, it will be the best coaching job of his career. With the talent that UCONN always has, they will sleepwalk into the Elite Eight. My only concern is the lack of games they play against top teams where the outcome is uncertain with 2 minutes left in the game. IMO, that’s why they haven’t cut down the nets in recent years. Practice and 30 point routs don’t prepare a team for that.

UConn couldn't do anything about the cancellation of games against Louisville and Baylor. It's been that kind of year. Hopefully, with UConn back in the Big East, it will draw players to other teams in the Big East trying to beat them.

That’s why the other coaches in the conference are happy to have UConn back in the fold. It gives the confidence more name recognition, a higher profile, a sellout game when UConn comes to your gym/arena, and the game will be televised, which gives your program ”national“ exposure.

Note - SNY programming is featured by outlets all across the country. I’m in Southern California, and I've seen every UConn women’s game broadcast by SNY since they obtained the broadcast right from CCTV.

It also gives your team the chance to measure themselves against a perennial top 5 team. That’s why DePaul head coach Doug Bruno was “genuinely“ happy to learn that UConn was returning to the Big East Conference.

Look at the unique opportunity that Xavier, Creighton and Butler will have over the next week when the Huskies come to town. They will host the number one team in the country in their facility. That's also a great recruiting tool to be able to tell potential recruits: “We play UConn twice a year.“

UConn played worse teams for all those years in the AAC and still won championships. It ain't who you play but how you play.
