8. specifically, during WW2, the Japanese occupying armies forced Korean women (and women from just about anywhere they were) into sexual slavery, in order to keep the soldiers satiated. Estimates of "comfort women" run over 100,000 women so abused - many of whom died from their horrific treatment. Those who survived were often, understandable, permanently damaged for the rest of their lives. Japan, or at least some politicians in Japan, have long refused to acknowledge this practice took place during the war, much less apologize. South Korea would like to see some acknowledgement.

2. Sears Tower in Chicago. BTW, there was an incredible scaffolding rescue at the New World Trade Center. The FDNY had to cut through three layers of glass.

9. Hopefully, they will eliminate unconstitutional(without cause) stops and searches altogether. The new mayor campaingned on that promise.

6. Bonjour. Comment ca va? (The literal translation for good morning in "bon matin" but no one uses it. Bonjour is one word, not two. And "ca va" is perfectly acceptable, you don't really need the "Comment". Wish I could get the little squiggle under the c in ca. Font limitations. Just call me the French Grammar Police - annoying, aren't I :D)

Posting again in Wirechief's behalf. any comments can, likewise, be forwarded:

1..The Feather Duster was a failed experiment using a lightweight aluminum body.
2..Willis Tower (nee Sears Tower) Geordi leads a foursome with both titles.
3..George Kingfish Stevens had a wife named Sapphire, the gem involved here.
4..Geordi, high and mighty as you are, you are dead wrong. The true answer is gefilte fish. The Languedoceans have so mastered aquaculture that the little swimmers descend from vines in tiny sacs, in which they tightly swim round & round. Even if you were correct, we have now given the region a name for all posters to now know, so wirechief remains the unparalleled dispenser of all knowledge.
And another thing. You forget that every test contains some questions which are low-hanging grapes, uh, fruit.
5..Pinot is not far off(actually he is, cause he’s in the southwest)by providing 1973. Abner had 4 more years left.
6..Take a page from that Taxi & Cradle lover who we know as Chap, a self-promoting expert.
7..Zorro & Nutmeg emerge from a haze of smoke to give us “Don’t Bogart that joint”.
8..Pinot has taken his meds to provide a praiseworthy report. See him.
9..VAUC is on the right track; for one thing, potholders(and I confess to using them for hot dishes) now get a summons instead of an arrest.
10..A person could legitimately ask why Geordi drove the Joint Chiefs Chairperson out of his neighborhood. Rob & Nutmeg make the correct ID also, without any similar fuss.
11..One can always count on Pinot concerning beasts, or at least more so than the rest of our animal-deficient posters. It is the coyote.
12..Skiffle it is, and Pinot & zorro admit they know it.
13..Scores of you, led off by rob, cite Michigan, another example of low-hanging fruit.
