19. I'm pretty sure that James Cameron's "Avatar" blew his own "Titanic" out of the water.

No pun intended.

I lied. TOTALLY intended:)

24. Don't know if it's the name of the tune but the vocal in Glenn Miller's band number goes "Pennsylvania 6-5000"

(Thanks to Dad's Sirius radio's '40s on 4' for THAT one)

18. As vtcwbuff notes, the answer is Hedy Lamarr. There is a new book about her, "Hedy's Folly: The Life and Breakthrough Inventions of Hedy Lamarr, the Most Beautiful Woman in the World," which had a terrific review this Sunday in the NY Times.
24. The phone number of the Pennsylvania Hotel in NYC. Glenn Miller used the number for his song "Pennsylvania 6-5000."

16. Tippling
18. Hedy Lamarr (Interesting life! She had a partner whose name escapes me.

.......It is like Anthill or something like it. Their invention was based on frequency
.......hopping. Interestingly Nikola Tesla was issued the first patent for a frequency
.......hopping application in the early 1900. Lamarr and Anthill’s concept was
.......not immediately accepted. It was in the early 60s when it was finally adopted.
.......She received an award for concept but alas no royalties. PBS is a good thing!)
19. Avatar; however if one factors in inflation “Gone with the Wind” may be the one.
21. USA

I’m sure in a parallel universe I understand your statement below:
Oh, and tonight is our last opportunity to see Boise St. under the direction
of Tim Tebow, who forwent the chance to conduct the Mormon Tabernackle
Choir and to make the finals in synchronized swiiming for this gig.

Your use of ruminate is as an intransitive verb. As such the first definition of ruminate is to chew again what had been partially chewed, swallowed, and partially digested. Having worked on a dairy farm I can tell you this is not a quiet process.

24..It's a phone number from a big band song that was an instrumental, except for the number being sing-shouted when the music stopped. It's from the old way people referred to phone numbers, beginning with a word. The first two letters of the word corresponded to the numbers on the phone dial. When I was very young, I remember my phone number in Norwalk beginning as Temple 8 and sometimes referred to as TE-8.

How have you done so far?

14..Methinks you are thrown off, because the name is likely of Eastern Europe origin.

15..The other half is a '60's hit which includes, "Every puppy has its day; everybody has to pay."
(Is Upink home yet?)

17..In reading your introductory economics, you'd find him alongside the Malthus discussion.
If that doesn't help, he may have been a relative of Lucy's husband.

22..A not obscure municipality in R. I.

25..Focus on Europe.

Now NCor, Your Tebow Time seems to imply he is everywhere. I just gave some examples
that others may not know. As a Florida (his alma mater) resident myself, I just may be privy to esoteric info...or I
cannot escape my irreverence.
And I want VTC to know that I was not suggesting that he act like a cow. I'm soooo uneasy about that.
