Parrish has issues and is really an awful writer period. Not worth reading his stuff because most is worthless drivel about rumors from his "friends" in the game..........how does CBS hire and keep such ignorant people?

Parrish is annoying with his obsession with Memphis. It isn't quite as bad now that Calipari isn't there, but it's still ridiculous that in an article he writes outlining what has happened to UConn he decides to frame it against what has happened to Memphis.

Unfortunately, if you take out the annoying Memphis stuff, the rest of the article isn't all that far off. We've had some bright moments this year with Ollie in charge and I don't think the future of the basketball team itself is bleak, but the athletic department has indeed had a rough year.

Remember all the media hand-wringing when it looked like Kansas was going to be left out of realignment? I'm still waiting for anyone, media or prominent coach, to speak on our behalf.

Alot of these CBS guys are complete jackazzes. Parrish, Borzello, and Jeff Goodman are three of the most arrogant idiots in college hoops. There is no insight or real info in any of their articles, they just report exactly what they see with a bit of their moronic opinions sprinkled in for good measure. I have ceased to read any of their BS, whether it be on twitter or through online media outlets.

Parrish is from Memphis - as, I believe, is Goodman. Amazingly, the beat writer for Memphis is Geoff Caulkins, who is an excellent writer and who doesn't flinch at telling the truth - witness his series of hilarious articles on Calipari during his bizarre tenure there. Believe me when I say these two birds were not going to take Geoff's gig.

Neither of these guys brought any kind of in depth pedigree to CBS except for the fact that they were ambitious, young and cheap.

Louisville fans have had enormous fun mocking Goodman's long-ago article where he mocked the Cards with this:

"How bad is it in Louisville? Recently UofL fans celebrated the NCAA's ruling marking the new eligibility of a guy named Georgui Dieng. Is this what things have come to in Louisville? Georgui Dieng?? Really, Louisville?"

He has taken a turn eating crow but he remains 1/64th of an inch from total Tsunammi's of Shame from all of us. And let's face it - rightfully frigging so. At the same time he was lapping up CalSack.

Gregg Doyel once wrote of Calhoun, "Is there any coach in college basketball who does less with more?"

Ha ha, man. Yeah, winning 3 NC's really sucks. What an amazingly stupid thing to say, honestly.

The shortest answer in history? "Yes."

What was wrong about that article?
I don't know the author from Adam and I'm not familiar with anything else he's written, but I didn't see anything wrong with the article. Those are all facts. I suppose it's a bit slanted not to mention that Calhoun's retirement was met with the installation of a promising young coach from within the program who has done a great job against all odds, but that didn't fit the point of the article, which was to focus on the many ways in which UConn has been an unfortunate loser in the last nine months.

No matter what promise Ollie may hold for the future of our basketball program, there can be little serious dispute that we have been the biggest loser in major college sports developments in the past year.

I dont think anyone is disputing the factual information in the article, I am just saying that the author (and some of his colleagues at CBS) is worthless.

You and I are in full agreement.

Gentlemen -- I know the current situation (to use a legal term) sucks, but this hyper-ultra-sensitivity with which some of you read every word just doesn't do anyone any good.

There are two realistic choices: jump off the UConn bandwagon (in which case please go away), or give the situation a little time. The world will not disintegrate in one or two seasons. If the conference status quo as it now exists continues for a decade, we will be screwed. But the constant "woe is me" and "the entire world is against us crap" just makes it harder for everyone else to hang on, to keep up their enthusiasm and give us the time we need to see if things change. And if UConn fans continue to drive the enthusiasm out of the program (to TDH and Muntz us to death) the window we have for future realignment before the program is permanently harmed just shrinks.

I think that was sort of my point to posting this. I'm certainly in the optimism crew, and I think this conference situation is going to work itself out (as I believe ole' JC has indicated in recent interviews). Things are bleak on the conference front but let's face it, we're not the only "big time" program in a state of flux right now.

The fact that we're at the point we are now with the basketball team (read: 19-8 with a fantastic new coach) is remarkable given the forces pressing against us (HOF coach retirement, APR, multiple player defections). And we just had one of the best recruiting classes in our football's history.

So no, there's nothing particularly wrong with the article ... it's been a rough year. But there's a lot of silver lining to go around that people choose to ignore.

It also doesn't help that Gary Parrish is a troll.

Thats fine, then don't get pissed when these j&rk-offs on the internet bash UConn. Until we do find our way into a power conference, that is what we have become in no short time.................a punchline on twitter. Its an absolute joke to find UConn where it is today and the basic truth is no school has suffered more since realignment has started. No one is jumping off the UConn bandwagon, atleast I hope not, but excuse some of us just as loyal fans who don't buy into this "things will be ok no matter what" outlook. Because they won't... its that simple. I, like most on this board, will always hold out hope that something will work out because I believe in the UConn brand and I personally have placed a tremendous value to that. But its just blind, devoted hope. I have yet to see or hear anything from our Administration that has done anything to reassure my beliefs. In fact, their few choice words and perceived apathy has dimmed whatever hope I have left.

You have to understand the source. Bashing Gary Parrish isn't hyper-sensitivity, it's a god-given duty. Other than that, I agree with you.
