just did an interview in the Baylor/TAMU game and he said in regards to BG that she would be one of the best ever in regards to great players such as "Nancy Leiberman, Lynette Woodard, Candace Parker, and ALL of those UCONN players"....

I thought it was really funny how he said it....

Speaking of spoiled, it can be interesting to see our program through the eyes of others.

I had a WVU fan spend the weekend with us to go to the BET. On the way home from the championship, we were listening to the post-game show. CD was trying to make a point about how special this win was. She said something like "We have a lot of trophies in our offices, sometimes they get misplaced, but this one—this one is special, and we will treat is as a very special trophy."

My friend picked up on the first part of the statement, remarking, "You know, you guys are spoiled, if you have so many trophies you can't keep track of them all."

He's right.

Who was it who said: "When you got it flaunt it baby!" Seriously, though, while we fans can go nutso in our spoiled world I think Geno, Chris and CO do a great job of being classey all the time and passing it on to the team.

He said that Griner will go down as the best ever. She is very good. Paker, Miller, Taurasi, Holdsclaw and Moore all won national titles. Until she does I don't think you can put her in that group.

Agree 100 %. She has 2 more chances to do it and this year should be her best shot. Uconn will reload next year and it could be tough then.

I'd agree unless she was brilliant twice in defeat.

This is a year Baylor should win it all. They are going against a relatively weak field. Next year may not be a deep field, but UConn's depth and talent level will improve significantly. They may well be 1 and 1A.

The thing is that CD was speaking literally. I'm pretty sure there was a story in the last year or two about them finding some misplaced trophies. If I remember right they were Big East Tournament trophies. They found them at the bottom of a clothes hamper or something silly like that.

Just don't tell him about Geno's NCAA Championship rings!

Secretariat was the best ever in horse racing ... he was a physical freak of nature ... his heart was so big he could run forever and keep his system oxigenated. Brittany Griner is a NONPARIEL [ not a freakl but in a land of ever increasingly big girls she is the biggest and she has carried a flawed team this year and I suspect she will carry it to a National Championship (there I have said it) much as DT did for 2 years. DT did it with supreme basketball smarts and talent that was remarkable. BG does it with size and good skills and a maturing composure that leads her team. No matter. She is right up there with Rebecca and is approaching Tina. I look forward to a Tina and Griner match up in the WNBA, but that's getting ahead of things.

A) I will agree with most of this...if and when it happens.

B) A team with two first team AAs may not be perfect, but it's not a big shock for them to win a national title. Diana didn't have anyone like Sims as a sidekick. She had good complementary players, but no star.

C) BG is a deserving NPOY, but her performance thus far had not approached the 1973 Belmont vis a vis her peers.

Re C) No and there never will be anything approaching what happened that day. For those of us into racing back then, it was like nothing we could conceive of or fathom or believe to be true, yet it was. And you get my point. She is a deserving NPOY, but there have been better.

Yup. The cops got the guy(s) who stole them, but I can't remember if they got the rings back.
.

I don't think so re ring recovery. Unaware 'til now that they lands the guys/thugs/jewerly buffs.

Secretariat's feat was off the charts historically. It might be like playing a top 10 team and shooting 80% to their 10%.

It will be interesting to see which center gets the most minutes at the Olympics.

I expect Tina, Sylvia Fowles and BG will be on the team.

That will be interesting. I do not expect Geno will shade his play time to his former players. Never has in the past. Guess it will be what the competition brings and how sharp each is in London.

Ernest H.

Mel Brooks lyric from The Producers, though I suspect Ernest would have endorsed that notion when not in one of his dark periods. The man lived large.

I think the thing with BG is that she is still getting better and better. I am not certain how much up side there is to Tina at this point. She is spectacular but how much room for growth does she have?

Geno said during the European tour that the only things Griner can't do are the things she has not been shown to do. I hope he gets to show her even more this summer.

BG has so much upside, still. She and Tina should battle for years.

I expect match-ups against opposing centers will have a big influence on which center(s) Geno plays in different games, and in changing circumstances within a single game.

Oopsey, Kim Mulkey probably loved that! Will she go with the Gold Lame' (yeah, I probably mis-spelled it, hick that I am) pants suit this NCAA final? It does slide across the floor real nice! ;)

I doubt that came as an insult. Geno is a great coach. Maybe BG can share that info with Kim so that she can pass it along to future Baylor players.

Many of the things that BG will learn to do will not be shown to her by a coach, they will be shown to her by her opponents. If she gets to play in the Olympics she is going to learn so much and be a much better player next year.
