Hi Boneyarders. I have a question about seats at Gample. I’m looking to find which sections have seat backs. We can’t handle a bench seat for 2 hours plus.
I looked up seating chart, but it really doesnt show which ones have seat backs. Thanks in advance.

Ok, so the side with the two team benches
Are the seats without backs.
Sections 218, 220, 221. 222, 223.
My seats are front row 220 so while I don’t have a back I have a great view and a rail to put my coat on….

Thank you for that. So the opposite side is probably the same.

The higher level sections with seatbacks are opposite where the teams sit. Neither end zone. That would be corner sections 1,2,3 and 4,5,6 as well as 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, 211 212. We have tickets in 208.

That is for this year only. Supposedly, next year will see big changes, including more seat back sections. Have not seen any specific changes. But the bench seating is terrible. Was there for several years. And people bringing their own seat backs makes it worse for everyone else.

Alternatively, you might consider investing in portable stadium cushion seats that come with backs. (I'm assuming UConn permits fans to bring these into Gampel - if not, someone please let us know!)

They're not that expensive and will give you a lot more seating options.

I'm curious exactly how they are going to reconfigure Gampel. Changing bench seating to seat backs would be a huge undertaking. As you say people who bring their own seat backs make it worse. That because there's no leg room between the benches as it is. Changing benches to seat backs would mean fewer rows and fewer people in each row. I suppose UConn could make up the lost revenue with increased ticket prices.

Whatever happened with the new bench seating where they used to be a concession stand? I think it was put in last year.

Rutgers made a change years ago, probably over 20, replacing benches (that had little plastic fanny seats) with seat backs. While there may have been a slight loss of seating, I seem to remember it was actually fairly minimal. These seats were located on movable "bleachers" technically, along the side lines, which rolled back (and still do) to increase practice area although they probably don't practice there any more. But the changes, as I said, were not as large as fans expected, and seat backs are a necessity.

So far as I know, here at Arizona, it is all seat backs except the "Zona Zoo" in the north end-court.
