I just learned what a natatorium is!
"Oh, what’s become of women’s basketball over the years. Oh, what’s taken place at Gampel Pavilion, where 11 women’s championship banners — and now Lobo’s retired No. 50 — hang high above the court. So much has changed, but the building still smells the same, like chlorine because of the adjacent natatorium, just as it did when she first arrived in 1991 as a basketball giant in the making.
“Certain places that you’ve spent a lot of time, there are things that bring you back,” Lobo said. “It’s the sound, whatever. Nothing does it more than the smell. And because of that chlorine, this place smells different than every other arena you’ve played in. So when you come in, you’re like, ‘Oh, yeah, this is home.’”
Always was, always will be."
Mike Anthony: Rebecca Lobo back at center of UConn women’s basketball world she helped create as her No. 50 retired
Apologies if this is already posted in some thread. It's almost 2 days old.
