The UConn women plays their final game of the regular season vs. Providence today at 2 p.m. The game will air on CBS Sports Network and the UConn Sports Network. The Huskies will honor Christyn Williams, Olivia Nelson-Ododa, Evina Westbrook and Dorka Juhász before the game for Senior Day. The senior class has compiled a 113-13 overall record and a 65-1 mark in conference games in four seasons. The seniors have helped the Huskies to seven conference championships and two Final Four appearances. Sunday's game vs. Providence is officially a SELL OUT! UConn will stream the Senior Day Ceremony 1:30 at http://Facebook.com/UConnWBB. CBS Sports Net will not cover the ceremonies. The Huskies set season highs in field-goal percentage (63.5), scoring margin (+55) and assists (27). Freshman Azzi Fudd led UConn with 19 points while Aaliyah Edwards (16), Christyn Williams (13), Olivia Nelson-Ododa (13) and Caroline Ducharme (13) also scored in double digits. Redshirt senior Evina Westbrook had a season-high 10 assists while adding seven rebounds. Sophomore Paige Bueckers returned to action for the first time since Dec. 5 vs. St. John's. In her first game back, Bueckers scored eight points on 4-for-5 shooting in 12 minutes. The Huskies won the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship and will be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament next weekend at the Mohegan Sun Arena. As Paige Bueckers was eying her return to action for the UConn women’s basketball team, she was listening to her body, and looking at the schedule. “About a week ago, she was able to get out on the court and do stuff that would have to happen in a game, instead of just walk through this and walk through that,” Geno Auriemma asked her, do you want to play and she said, No. I’m not ready. So he said, ‘She’ll tell me when she’s ready,’ and if I didn’t hear from her soon, she wasn’t going to play [before the end of the regular season]. But the one thing she didn’t want to do was for Sunday to be her first game back, so she was adamant she wanted to play Friday night.” She was too conscious that it was Senior Day. [HEADING=2]The Huskies last faced Providence on Jan. 30 in Rhode Island, winning 69-61 without Juhasz due to a foot injury. Williams led UConn with 19 points and 7 rebounds followed by Westbrook with 13 points and Caroline Duchamre with 12. After losing to UConn, Providence has gone 2-6 with both of its most recent wins over Butler. The Friars enter Sunday coming off a 57-51 loss to Marquette on Friday. Friar senior forward Mary Baskerville owns the Enfield (Conn.) High School record for most career points (1,870) across both boys and girls basketball programs. Providence is averaging 61.1 points per game, shooting 40.3 percent from the field and 29.7 on threes. Crooms (13.7) and Geary (10.1) are the leading scorers. Crooms (38.3 percent) can make threes. The Friars’ defense is their calling card. They are allowing only 62.9 points per game, and they held UConn undermanned, to 69 last game. Opponents shoot 36.6, and only 30.3 on threes. UConn’s Fudd, who went 1-for-5 on threes at Providence, will test that. Crooms scored 27 against UConn, going 8-for-11, so the Huskies will be mindful of her this time.[/HEADING] Massey's Rating Service Sez: UConn 74 - Providence 45.
