Hello!

I attended the game last night :) Was worth it after putting in a long two days of work so that I can attend this game :)

After reading most of the posts on the boneyard.. wanted to clarify on few things that I saw in person that might have not been shown on the TV.

That Geno's Technical... That was a big bad on the referee's part. The Ref was standing maybe 6-7 feet away and called foul on Kelly, who was clearly in her place. I sat in the 6th row on the same side where the foul occured so I had the clear view. CLEARLY was not a foul. No question! I can understand why Geno was very ticked off. Geno actually went almost halfway onto the court and the big CD had difficult time controlling Geno. He so angry that he swore at the ref , which was clearly audible across the court. I think that was immediately after when the T was assessed so I was surprised the ref did not eject him. I also was disappointed that the ref who called the foul did not confer with other ref who was under the basket who also had the clear view of the foul.

Regarding the Posts- Dolson played horribly. She did not hustle as much as I remember seeing her doing at the DePaul game that I also saw in person. The pass into the post was good , however she fumbled with the ball and had a couple of turnovers. Her energy was not there. As for Stokes, I thought she played well so I was mystified as to why she was benched because she had a couple of good blocks or almost-blocks. However, the guards were not passing the ball to Stokes when she was clearly open a few times so I think Geno wanted to give the guards message that if they are not passing the ball into the post, they might as well play in the post themselves.

I stayed after the game to wait to see some of the players. After around half hour the players came out to sign autographs for some of the kids who stayed around. Dolson was sobbing and clearly very upset. Kara Wolters (I think it was her, the person who did the radio) had to comfort her and talked a bit to her. On other hand, Kiah Stokes came out smiling so I found it odd that Dolson would come out crying and Kiah was smiling.

And NO.. all calls after the T did not go the uconn's way.. one marquette player fouled out with 30 seconds remaining....

I wanted to record the game on the TV to see if I somehow sneaked on the TV since I had a good seat in the 6th row. Sad to say that, Although I live in Milwaukee, I did not receive the channel 32 that was doing the game as it was only for the Time Warner Customer only. UGH...

Glad you found a way to make it to the game! I recall you had some consternation vis a vis the 4:00 PM CT start time and your work schedule.

Thanks Katy, great report.

I have to assume that Dolson was told point blank by the coaches that her play was unacceptable. Let's hope she responds in a good way because time is running out and UConn needs her to be playing well.

Thanks for the report, Katie Marie. That's really too bad about Steph, I hope she has a great game tomorrow night (although Geno said on his show yesterday that kids today are not as tough as they used to be). Stephanie seems to be a really good kid, and she has tons of ability. Hopefully she'll shake off whatever's bothering her and comes out on fire tomorrow night.

Thanks for the excellent report. If you provide more details on where you were sitting and anything to identify you like clothing who you sat next to etc. so we can look to see if you are on camera.

Thanks for the report. Good to get your perspective on the technical and on other things we might not have seen on TV. That's one good thing about going to the games: you see things that the camera doesn't show you.

Thanks for the input and thanks for representing us UCONN fans who can't be there

Thanks for the excellent report - and I hope Stef takes her frustrations out on ND with tough fouls (since we have three other post players to keep sending out if we need to) Monday night.:)

Yup, When the CD the coach came out to do her post game, she was clearly disgusted.. Seemed not to be too happy.

Wow-thanks for doing that.

I'm not sure if I'm more concerned about Stef's tears or Kiah's lack of them:(

The best thing to be said about SteFanie is that she is a really nice kid off the court.

The worst thing to be said about SteFanie is that she is a really nice kid on the court.

She seems to not only get two quick fouls (which disappoints her as much as her coaches) but IMO she doesn't get her money's worth when she gets called for those ticky-tacky early fouls.

I do not advocate dirty play or that she try to injure an opponent or draw blood. Not at all. But is you are going to foul someone (like to prevent a layup), it should be done so the other player knows that she has been fouled.

Ms. Novosel and Ms. Diggins, take note.

Back to you, SteF.

One thought crosses my mind when I hear about Stef in tears and Kiah smiling--who's the starting center for Monday night? (No, they won't play 5 guards against a brute force team like ND, unless Geno wants to give up 25 offensive rebounds to the Irish.)

Oy, the technical. Reminded me how the announcers were gleefully rooting for Geno to be ejected. Odd senses of humor, they.

There was more than handful huskies fan at the game, I was sorta surprised. I would say maybe 30-40 people sat behind the huskies bench wearing huskies outfits. I sat directly opposite from the bench, and was also surrounded with people wearing huskies tops.

There was one man sitting directly in front of me that was obsessed with taking pictures of Doty on his phone. I thought it was hilarious. It was old man. My companion thought he was a father of one of the Uconn player, but I didn't think he was Doty's father.

Here's a treat.. a video of Uconn heading to locker room at halftime.

Absolutely agree! I think of Tina when she first started and by the time she was a senior she commanded the post and let every one know it.

From the time they are barely out of diapers, people who are on the 98% side of height by age group are hammered with "be nice, you are big and don't realize your strength" and that conditioning tends to stick IMO in situations that call for something different.

I'm thinking Heather is a prime example. She's so ripped and impressive physically and just has to put warrior paint on. Steph got it late last year and will get it back. Kiah has it coming on. Monday will be very interesting.

Thanks for the report, KatyMarie...some of us had trouble following the game: we were too busy laughing at the teacher and the other guy (announcers). BTW, check out Ms. Michele Griffin-Wenzel at RateMyTeacher. Her students liked her less than the BY did!

I wonder: does she accuse them of flopping for good grades?
