Game plan for Notre Dame?

The key to beating UK was the play of Hartley and Jefferson.
To Geno's credit he let Jefferson play through her mistakes of which there were a couple after she first came into the game. But then she settled down and was our mini version of Baylor's Sims. Once she puts on some weight and gains experience she will be an All American point guard.

Hartley played great D and was able to bring the ball up the court without wilting under the pressure. Jefferson was later able to do that as well, but when she first came into the game they got to her.

Now I wonder if Geno will allow Jefferson to play through her mistakes against ND. We should start with a big lineup of Dolson, Stewart, KML, Faris and Doty, try to survive 5 minutes and then take Dolson and Doty out and throw in Jefferson and Hartley. Pretty much keep the game plan similar to what it was against Kentucky. Face guard McBride and force Diggins to get past Jefferson or Hartley.

UConn also had allot of success trapping ND in their comeback in the third game. UConn was down 10 or 12 before storming back to take the lead with 2 minutes to go. Of course Dolson was instrumental then and I doubt that she can repeat that a week from now.

God... I am curious how we will handle DUKE next week. Should we be planning for Notre Dame prior to tonights game?

Why would we take Dolson out unless she's in foul trouble or feet trouble?

I'm sure DanDar was just trying to create bad Mojo for ND. Not sure the Mojo gods will fall for it but worth a try. ;)

One objective factor to consider is the extra day to plan and also rest. Given Dolson's stresses and strains and given the entire team's psyche when it comes to ND, this extra day to prep and the possibility ND will be pushed, or even possibly ( but not probably) eliminated gives UCONN a bit of an advantage.

The one day between E8 contested may not always be a factor of significance, but I think it is one this year. I'm glad it worked out that way.

We can't afford to get in foul trouble. Period.
But IMO, we've played them well, but just come up short.

ND will be the heavy favorite. They have beaten UConn 7 out of the last 8 times and three in-a-row. They have a quickness advantage at every position...only MoJeff is quicker than her corresponding ND player and Diggins' longer reach and favored status from the zebras tends to negate that. Stef is hurting. We are doomed, clearly DOOMED!
That being said, it is a very tough feat to beat a closely matched opponent four times in the a row. The pressure will be in their corner. Stewie and MoJeff are playing much better than in the previous matchups...as they say: it is ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!
