Not--in any way--competitive. Statistically it was about the same as with the AAC: around +45/MOV.
This was among the season's biggest disappointments (along with key games cancelled). Fans really have had to wait until the Huskies got real competition (Ark, TN, SC). What we learned from those limited encounters is really all we have to go on as the tourney approaches.
Vs. Ark, we learned that we can be beaten + that Slim alone cannot carry the day (every day).
Vs. TN, we learned that we can rally in an away game and hold on to win.
Vs. SC, we learned that we can come from behind in clutch time on the back of Paige.
So: until we play someone else with talent, we have much more to learn. It won't be in the next few games.
No doubt we are much improved in consistency and chemistry. Those gains mostly seem to have happened in practice. Let's hope that minimally we got from the Big East games some experience we can use going forward.

Julianna Viani is one of the few color commentators that I can really listen to. She has covered many of the USF-UConn games and is very knowledgeable when it comes to the teams and women's basketball in general. Hope she's on point again tonight.

Yes Julianna is one of the talented Viani sisters who led Our Lady of Lourdes HS to basketball prominence in NY State in the 90s, close in talent to Christ the King who had Chamique and Sue B in the 90s, eh?
