The 10th-ranked UConn women’s basketball team finishes off non-conference play against longtime rival No. 7 Tennessee tomorrow. It’s been 27 years since the UConn-Tennessee women’s basketball rivalry began. Back on Martin Luther King Day 1995, the No. 2 Huskies hosted the No. 1 Lady Vols in Storrs in the first meeting between the teams. Tennessee was the nation’s best, with three NCAA titles over the previous eight years to set the standard in the sport. UConn was a program trying to prove its place among the nation’s elite after its first Final Four run four years prior.

All attendees to UConn athletic contests will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. For more information on the policy, click HERE. Sunday's game is a WHITE OUT! Fans coming to the game are encouraged to wear white. The UConn-Tennessee game will be the second-ever women's basketball game on FOX (not FS1).

One of the sport’s best rivalries grew from that first meeting when UConn upset Tennessee. Three months later UConn topped Tennessee for the program’s first national championship. In the 12 years that followed, UConn beat Tennessee 13 times in 22 meetings — including six straight wins from 2002-04. The series ended after 2007 and didn’t start up again until 2020. UConn swept Tennessee in the home-and-home series the last two seasons. The rivalry was renewed for another home-and-home last June. Tennessee is coming off an 84-59 loss to Florida last Thursday. This season, Jordan Horston leads the Lady Vols with 15.6 points per game. Tennessee leads the nation with 49.9 rebounds per game.

The Huskies own a NCAA-leading 11 national championships compared to Tennessee’s eight. UConn also leads the all-time series 15-9, including four meetings in the national title game. While Geno Auriemma still leads the Huskies (14-4, 9-0 Big East), Tennessee (19-3, 8-2 SEC) is on its second head coach since the legendary Pat Summitt — Kellie Harper is in her third season.

Is Tennessee back? Kellie Harper could very well be turning the Lady Vols into a national title contender again

Geno Auriemma expected to return to sideline on Sunday against Tennessee

I'm working Wednesdays thru Sundays for a few weeks.

I assume the BY will take this into account and not mention anything about the game till I'm finished watching it, say around 5 or so?

Thanks in advance. ;)

Boote' you know better than that. You also know the best way NOT to find out the score of the game prior to watching it, is to NOT come anywhere near the yard tomorrow. I'd listen to some of your favorite music until you get home. Have someone else log on to the BY and find the replay (and bring it up) for you so that you won't be tempted to "peek" at any post game thread titles which may give the outcome of the game away.

I actually prefer to know who wins before watching. Saves a lot of time!

Can't believe the game is on Fox network. That makes it potentially a huge audience for WCBB. Maybe the Olympics will compete a lot though also. I love seeing the games on a big screen though and welcome the network coverage.

Since the game is on Fox, there will be no pre or post game coverage of the game on SNY. If you live outside of the ESPN 97.9 Hartford broadcast area, you can't get the feed of their coverage "on-line". The ESPN Hartford station plays different (alternative) programming to folks trying to access the game on-line 30 minutes before the game, during the game, and 30 minutes after the game. I've tried on several times to listen to the pre and post game show without success.

You can listen to Bob and Debbi's pre and post game show through the Varsity Radio Network app. You can only down the app on your phone. It won't download on your computer, but it's free, unlike Tune in that requires a fee to listen to their feeds. I don't watch SNY's pre or post game shows anymore. Bob Joyce's shows are much more informative and entertaining.
