Playing inside, leaping for rebounds, and driving to the basket - last year Gabby got a lot of foul shot opportunities. And we all cringed - at least a bit. Flash forward to a summer of hard work - and look at the results. She's hitting .762 of her foul shots while still playing a style that generates foul opportunities. Know this has been mentioned within other threads - but her development and dedication deserves its own thread.

Gabby's great, no question. Her potential is limitless. She just has to be careful not to commit bad fouls. Her shooting and her free throw shooting are much improved. Her energy, defense and rebounding are outstanding, as usual. Gabby will be an AA before she leaves UConn.

Great point. She also started shooting a mid range jumper and has made a few. How about solid BY support for her also!

Ding ding ding ding ding ding!!! If she can continue to make and perfect those mid-range jumpers, she's going to become a real concern for other teams. She's already very good under the basket. I like the fact that she's added the MRJ to her arsenal this season. I like Naphessa's MRJ also.

Gabby consistently amazes me with her athletic ability! Her jumping, speed, and just overall hustle more than makes up for her inexperience! Every once in a while she'll make a rookie mistake, a bad pass on offense or leaving an opponent to double down on defense leaving her opponent open, then she'll do some impossible athletic move that makes you go WOW!
She has a high learning curve that Geno wants to experiment with! Her future is limitless!
She'll stay at SF for the rest of her UCONN career because she'd only be an average Guard but an exceptional Forward!

One thing that bothers me is when I hear announcers, analysts, or fans refer to a mistake made by a freshman as a freshman mistake. Why not refer to a mistake made by a junior or senior a junior/senior mistake? I see upper classmen making the same mistakes the freshmen make: bad passes, dropped passes, bad shots, ill advised shots, silly fouls, being out of position, and poor defense, just to name a few. I know it's just my opinion but, it is unfair to freshmen to name a mistake after them when more experienced players make the same kind of mistakes.

Because the assumption is that freshman being freshman know nothing, so while they have made a mistake it is because of this ignorance and not willful stupidity which is the term I like to use for juniors and seniors when they make the same mistake.

I think you're probably right. This means that when she's in the game with KLS you have a 5'11" forward and a 6'3" guard.

Lou and Napheesa will ultimately be great players for UConn...but I would like to see Gabby reinserted into the starting lineup!

I think she is superbly suited as the perfect "6th man" off the bench. She brings all those wonderful qualities everyone has mentioned.

I absolutely love her- she has to be my favorite player - but I love them all! :)
